My mom noticed yesterday that my 3 week LO has a little bit of a white tongue. She said it could be the start of thrush? I looked it up and I think it could be. I don't seem to notice anywhere but on her tongue. Doesn't seem to bother her, but now that I know it could be something that shouldn't be, I am starting to wonder.

Thanks! I am FF and think you might be right, milk tongue...hehe! I will try to check the insides of her cheeks, but it is not an easy task. Good to know, thanks for responding.
I figure I might just ask the doc when we go in a couple weeks to be on the safe side, unless it should get worse, then I will call him.
I would not wait for a few weeks for the baby to be looked at bc yeast is easily transferred from baby to you and can go back and forth if not treated.
I realized we had thrush when my nipple was in excruciating, burning, pain. Then I noticed her tongue. If the baby has thrush you should sterilize everything he/she uses every day. My pedi never mentioned anything about needing to have white patches else where besides tongue and my daughter only has it on the tongue but I am certain we have thrush due to symptoms on my breast/nipple.
Thrush does not have to be on the sides of mouth or cheeks. My DS has had it twice...once all over and once only on his tongue. Thankfully I have not developed it...Doc gave me a prescription to prevent it. But left untreated it can be passed back and forth from baby to mom...an I hear its very painful if mom gets it. GL
I took Natalie to the doctor yesterday and I am glad I did. It is thrush and saw actually that it went a ways back on her tongue. I wonder if that is why she has so much spit up and mucus caught in her throat.
She is on a medicine now, 2ml, that she gets in her mouth 4 times a day until we go for her wellness check next week. I am so glad I was better safe than sorry and it could have gotten worse.
Thanks ladies!
