S/O baby items - highchair
A lot of you guys mentioned that getting a big full sized high chair was not necessary. I'm trying to make some last minute changes to my registry since shower invites are going out today.
Originally we had a regular full sized highchair on there, but now after reading the thread below I'm debating if I should change that. A lot of you mentioned getting one of the space saver ones that hook on to a kitchen chair. Is this what you guys are talking about or is there something more simple? I know Kathryn had mentioned what a PITA it was to clean a high chair and wishes she could have something she could just hose off.
The link I posted basically just looks like a highchair without legs, but does have all of the padding that you would need to clean. So while it is like 1/3 of the cost, you still have to deal with getting all the grime off of it every now and then.
If there's something else I should be looking at, would you ladies mind posting a link?

It's pricier than some options, but we LOVE our Stokke. We can pull DS right up to the table to eat with us - and it hoses down beautifully.
Another very cool option that we picked up over the weekend before our mini vacay was this. It folds totally flat so fits in our stoller basket and was great to have on the go. Obviously not something you'd use until (s)he can sit up on her own - but worth keeping in mind.

Ella stopped using the high chair when she was a little over one (and only really used it starting around 5 months when she started eating regular meals every day.

FWIW, the pads on my chair could be washed too, but they are coated w/ plastic and stuff gets into the seams and then into the stuffing in the padding - so its hard to get out.
I have something similiar to your original post and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It stays strapped to the chair and i can whip the cover off to wash (very easy) and i can wipe the plastic down (very easy). I did not want a normal hc bc it is just too bulky. This is perfect bc I drag the chair wherever if needed, but other than that it sits at the table is nothing extra. Once the toys start building up, you'll realize one additional huge item is in the way. I think the space savers are the way to go.
I also have one similar to Katherine's link, but it's my travel one. The back folds down and the tray snaps over top. High chairs in public skeeve me out (and surprisingly so since i'm incredibly laid back about so much), so I take it with me everywhere and again one of the best items and most useful items i've had for the baby.
I would get something like this......it gets good reviews. And it converts to a booster. Wish I would have gotten this initially. Also, DS loves sitting at the table with us, so he was much happier when we moved him out of the high chair!

We started with the basic fisher price one that attaches to a chair. It was great for a while until Ada figured out how to use her head and feet to rock the whole chair. We switched to the Ikea one Kathryn posted and I love it. It works great. We started using it when she was about 15 months old and we still use it. For $25.00 with the tray, it is a terrific option.
edited to add-- We didn't get it sooner, because they were out of them for a while and then we were happy with what we had. I think it would have worked fine when she was smaller as well.
I'm on the fence on what I would do if I were starting all over. We have this high chair: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=10803017 . We closed it up after every meal and put it in a corner. I didn't take up very much space. I really liked it. The cover comes off, but not all that easily. But, I didn't find it difficult to wipe down. I don't think Sophia is a very dirty eater though. We did only use the full-sized high chair for 8-10 months (6months to 14 or 16 months). What I did like is that with the tray on, it put a little distance between us. The couple of times I tried to feed her without the tray on, she hit the food and pureed greenbeans (etc) spilled all over me.

It is actually at a size where when on the chair, the chair can still fit under the table. For our table in particular, a lot of those "space saving booster chairs" like you posted, wouldn't fit under our table, so we would have had to take it off every time we used it, otherwise it wouldn't have been much of a space savings.
I still think for our next child, we'll still use the high chair.
We have this 4 in 1 Graco High Chair and love it! DD is 15 months and we still use it everyday for meals. Eventually DD will get the booster part of it and any future child will get the regular high chair.

We basically have an older version of this in a different color. It's worked great for us so far! It's nice and easy to clean and DD seems comfortable in it.

Plus food (think infant purees) got in every nook and cranny and it was a pain to clean. The only plus about it was that I could wheel Aiden around while cooking dinner.
We sold that and got a Fisher Price booster for Aiden, which he still uses. I have a Fisher Price Space Saver for Claire for when the time comes.

I really like our big highchair. We have a open floor plan, so the size isn't a huge concern for us. I especially like that it has 3 different positions upright and 2 somewhat reclining positions. The recline has been helpful when I needed to give DD medicine or when she is drinking a bottle.
Also, the type of dining room chairs we have don't lend themselves to the strap on highchiar/booster.
We have this one by Fisher Price, its a full size but folds up, although we never fold it up.
I like it for several reasons that other posters have mentioned - we have a big kitchen so it doesn't seem to take up a ton of space, our kitchen chairs aren't right for having a little chair strapped on them I don't think, and even if they were, Sydney rocks back and forth using her head and feet and I would be afraid she'd knock the chair over.
I do think we will eventually get a smaller chair to strap on and figure something out with our kitchen chairs but we do really like our big high chair.
We have this high chair as well. I don't find that it takes up too much space, and I like that I can wheel it around so that LO can see us. It's easy to clean, and the pad goes in the washer and the tray goes in the dishwasher. It reclines and adjusts to different heights. DD1 still uses the high chair, but I will be getting her a space-saver or maybe just a booster seat when #2 starts eating meals with us. Right now, I feed them separately so they both use the big high chair.
I love the Ikea highchair that Kathryn posted w/ the tray. We got this giant Eddie Bauer highchair that we registered for and I hate it. I need to sell it or give it away. I have only hung onto it this long because I watched 2 other boys.
We only have a dining room and I didn't want to put one of those strap to the chair things on my dining room chairs (the seats of which are upholstered.)
