I feel like the problem is getting worse. For those of you whose kids have had similar eye issues (misalignment), did you notice it getting progressively worse fairly quickly? I only started noticing it in the last week or 2 and only at a certain time of day when he was looking in a certain direction. As of yesterday, I'm noticing it more often, and it seems more pronounced. DH finally saw it last night when we switched seats at the dinner table. I've contacted his pedi so see if he wants to see Cal first or have us go straight to an opthamologist.
Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.

Re: More ?s about Cal's eyes
With us it was a slow progression, but E was much younger. My boss's son also has strabismis and it was like he woke up one morning with it. She was terrified. Turned out he only needed glasses.
One thing you might notice is that when he is tired it looks worse. That is how it is with E, the muscles get tired and stop working as well.
I had read that, which made sense since I was only seeing it in the evening at the dinner table...so when I noticed it this morning I was surprised.

I am concerned that my DD's is getting a little worse as well. However, i tend to wonder that since i have noticed it now, it is more apparent and i fixate on it more.
We have a f/u appt. next week. We watched it for 3 months. I will see if the doc thinks it is worse (there are ways to measure it with prism). I am hoping it is fine, because I am afraid she will send us for an MRI if it is worse.
However, i think my case is a bit different. She called it an esotropia, but yet at times i think it is a 6th nerve paresis (she can't always bring her left eye out towards her nose).
A pedi is just going to refer you to a pedi ophthal. So i say just make the appt.
Agreed. For our insurance we needed a referral, so I just called my pedi. She did all the referral paperwork and I didn't need to go in to see her, she just gave us the name of a good pedi ophthal. It took nearly 6 weeks to get in, so I'd call ASAP.
Pedi emailed me back and this is what he said:
"i'd make an appt to see me first next week and i can to a full check up of him first, and determine how quickly we need to get him into the pedi opthomologist (his wait list is a few months). also, try to look back at some pictures to see if he has a 'red light reflex' in both eyes or only one."
So, I had no idea what "red light reflex" was and looked it up - first hit was about eye cancer! Ugh! I'm sure he just wants to rule out any serious possible causes first to determine how urgent the referral needs to be, but geez...didn't like reading that.
