Hi my son just got the results of his allergy testing and he is allergic to peanuts, soy, and eggs. His peanut allergy is H3...anyone know how serious this is and if we should remove peanut butter from the house? We see an allergist in 3 weeks but I am nervous in the meantime. My pedi is prescribing an epi pen. I feel so bad because when all his gastro issues, eczema, ear infections, and wheezing started we switched to soy formula from milk based (all along he was allergic to soy and not milk!) Any thoughts on good products to buy for him to eat that are egg, soy, peanut free....also do we need to avoid foods that are processed in a facility with these things? I know the allergist will go over this but just wondering your experiences. TIA

I don't know what "H"3 is. My allergist does numbers with out the H. But it may be the same, if it is than 3 is high.
I would get rid of PB if i was you. When we found out my son has allergies we got ride of anything that is or contains milk, soy, eggs, peanuts.
It is very hard at first but you will soon figure things out and it will get easier.
If he is not allergic to tree nuts, you can buy freshly ground almond butter. My son LOOOOVES IT!!!!!!! and i will never go back to PB b/c almond butter is so yummy. I see you are in Jersey and i know whole foods has the almond butter machines but they do have a cross contamination label. The only place i found that it is not cross contaminated is in scarsdale NY at Mrs. Greens where i go. If you go into the city for some reason, i am more than happy to bring you some from mrs. greens. I work in the city.
here is my latest find... a friend recommended it to me and i can't believe it's safe.
Tyson dinosaur chicken nuggets in the frozen section - they are 100% natural and the dinosaur shaped nuggets are the only ones that are only white meat. My son LOVES them and you can so easily just microwave them. They are milk, soy, eggs, nuts free.
I also do not know what H3 means. With the way our blood results came back, 3 was moderate I think. In any case, I would remove peanuts from your life. The reactions can just be too scary and the residue from peanuts can last on surfaces for awhile from what I understand.
The epi-pen is scary (and I have never had to use ours), but it makes you feel like you have some control over your child's safety and well-being should something go wrong. You should always carry 2 and Benadryl. Each epi-pen lasts 20 minutes and keep an eye on the temperature where you leave them. Can't stay in the car or anything.
That stinks that he was allergic to soy all of that time! Did he seem to do better on the soy? My son tested mildly allergic to soy (on the blood test) even though he had been tolerating it for months. He did not show a reaction with a skin test. He eats/drinks soy products daily. Soy is in A LOT of stuff.
I do a ton of baking. There are a lot of egg replacers if you google it. And they make Ener-g egg replacer to bake with (it is a powder).
The "facility" thing. Depends on the kid and the allergy. My son's egg allergy is pretty serious, but we give him foods where there is a chance of cross contamination for eggs and dairy, but not for nuts. You do have to do some research because they are not required to post this on their product.
I like the nut-free mom's blog. She posts a lot of helpful stuff and you can search on there!
