Sex, Boobs, and Swaddling

Some questions for all of you...

  1. How long did/will you wait before having sex again? My doctor told me to hold off for 6 weeks (I had a CS). Did you guys all follow the dr's rules or ??
  2. I have been FF since the beginning. My milk had come in, and I believe it is gone... but I still leak a tiny bit. Is this normal?
  3. My baby does not seem to like swaddling. Anyone else?

    1) 5 weeks, but I had a c-section so the vag was okay.

    2) I think so??

    3) I've read two books that say babies will fight swaddling while there upset, so it looks like they dont like, but once they settle swaddled babies will sleep longer and deeper.

  • 1. waited about 4 weeks, I had a c/s and tubes tied. I haven't been cleared to have sex yet. Oh, and it hurt so bad we didn't actually do it, but fooled around.

    2. yes, I did bf and stopped about 3 weeks ago and am still leaking a bit.

    3.mine doesn't

  • 1. We waited awhile with my first, and probably will be awhile before I feel brave enough again!

    2. Yes, completely normal. I leaked for a long time after stoping with my first.

    3. My lo hates to be swaddled!! It actually wakes her up if she cannot move her hands. I tried a few times but she just ooched and schooched until she was free and then she slept peacefully. So, I don't bother anymore. I figure it's a good thing, one less thing to wean her from!

  • 1. no sex yet- we are 4 weeks pp. I had a 2nd degree cutting so I am a little nervous.

    2.  leaking is normal from what I hear

    3. my little one hates swaddling.

  • I can only speak to #1 - I had a vaginal delivery and we had sex at 3weeks pp. I had a 3rd degree tear, but it really didn't hurt (my OB said it was fine). I am still BFing and LO has to be swaddled to sleep.

  • 1. I had a third degree tear. I'm waiting at least the 6 weeks. Not that I've had the energy to really want to try to fool around.

    2. No idea

    3. My baby looks like he hates it, but he definitely sleeps better. We only swaddle at night - I want him to be able to move during the day. He definitely hates the Woombie right now. I think it might not be tight enough; the bit of wiggle rooms seems to be worse than just being immobilized.

  • 1. I waited the 6 weeks with my DS and I'll wait with this one too.  You essentially have an open wound inside of your uterus.  It's best to let it heal as to avoid potential infection. I had c/s's both times.

    2.  Mine leaked after I had my DS for some time after I weaned. It's totally normal.

    3.  Yes, she is swaddled for all sleep (naps and nighttime) I just got a newborn Woombie today and we are using that now instead of the Miracle Blanket (which is what I used with my DS) and she is doing even better with the Woombie.  I just watched her fuss for 5ish minutes on the video monitor acting like she hated the thing and now she's out like a light :)  Like Elisbu said, even though they may act like they hate it, they tend to sleep better.  At least in my experience. We only swaddled my DS until he was 12ish weeks or so

  • 1.  I only had to small first degree tears on either side of the urethra so I'm hoping I don't have to wait the whole 6 weeks.  I have a PP appointment at 4 weeks PP so I'm hoping we get clearance at that point.  If I thought it wouldn't hurt I'd be all over it right now and we're only 8 days PP.

    2.  I have no idea.

    3.  LO loves the swaddle.  We swaddle for most naps during the day and definitely at night.  He gets fussy when he is tired and not swaddled.

  • Five weeks. I was totally fine. There have been a few positions that have been a little uncomfortable but we just stop doing that and stick with something that works. We'll keep trying though.

I have no idea if that's normal.

Eliza doesn't like her arms swaddled but she likes being tight and confined from the chest down.

    Like this.

    1.  Waited the 6 weeks.

    2.  I breastfeed so I have no idea!

    3.  My baby seems to dislike swaddling while I am swaddling him, but I would keep at it.  We have and he sleeps so well when swaddled!  He wakes himself up if not swaddled.

    1. My midwife's information book says you have to wait until the bleeding has stopped and the cervix is closed. If the bleeding stops by my next appointment then I will ask her about it at my next appointment (4 weeks PP) if not then I will ask her at my 6 week appointment.

    2. I'm sure it is normal. I am breastfeeding though and don't leak- I'm surprised.

    3. My LO liked to be swaddled the first week (arms out though) now he likes to move his legs too much so he has started using the wearable blanket at night.

I have the same tearing and I also don't wanna wait the whole 6 weeks. I think once we feel up to it we should be a ok.
