Things To Do in South Metro

I need some ideas for things to do in the summer in the south metro.  I know there is the zoo, but we don't have a pass and probably won't get one til next summer, so I'm looking for something a little cheaper.  Any ideas?  TIA!

  • Many libraries offer baby story time... fun and educational (and free!)

  • Kelley Park in Apple Valley and Nicollet Commons Park in Burnsville have sprinklers to run through. Schultz Beach at Lebanon Hills Park. Caponi Art Park. Find a playgroup, or even just head to some local parks and introduce yourself to the other moms to start your own.

The $50 you'd spend on an individual membership to the MN Zoo, if you live nearby, will make up for itself in 3 visits and then you can go whenever you want. There is so much to do there that it is definitely worth the investment.

  • Also, all of the libraries have free passes to the zoo....you have to watch for them to get put out but then you can go for free....they also have a lot of other museum passes etc. too AND sign up for Macaronikids.com https://farmington.macaronikid.com/calendar/event/513570/ this calendar will show you everything in the area to do, mostly free! Also, burnsville has an event for kids on saturday the 12th in the heart of burnsville :)https://www.burnsvillepac.com/bpac-blog/all-bpac-blog/viewpost/177 - Jen Becker
  • Burnsville Heart of the City has a picnic in the park every Thursday during lunchtime.  They always have kids bands and its free.  MOA has toddler tuesday.
