How do you feel about tattoos? Do you or DH have any? If not, would you ever get one?

Niether DH or I have any I went through a phase from about 17-20 where I REALLY wanted one. I wanted to get a butterfly on my ankle. My parents were totally against it and told me they would not pay my colleg tuition if I got a tattoo (yes, I know I am incredibly fortunate that my parents paid for my college). Well, their plan worked because by the time I was done with college, I no longer wanted the tattoo and I am glad that I didn't do it. I am not totally anti-tattoo, but just can't think of anything that I would want on my body FOREVER. I have thought about someday getting something to represent the three babies that I lost, but I don't know what. I would have to have someone design something for me.

I love tattoos as long as they are in tasteful places and aren't completely vulgar.

I have two tattoos:

A dove on my upper bicep and DH has the same one on his. We got this about six months before we got married. DH never thought he would ever get a tattoo, but we love it.

I have a tattoo on my foot that says, " I open at the close." Granted it is a quote from Harry Potter, but to me it means so much on a deeper level. More that when all is said and done that I need to face my fears/past/etc. head on and face them without regret or fear. It is a reminder to stay true to myself.

I do plan to get more on my arm, I want to make it a family super tattoo half sleeve someday.

I have two identicle tattoos on the front pelvic area of my hips and H has one on both arms. I dont know how I feel about them, but I wanted to experience it and it had to be balanced so I got them both at the same time. I can say this though I will never be getting another one.

Edited: This post made me think of my ex fiance. After we were together for several months he got a tattoo of my name and a tatto that said JB + JC forever our initials. Stupid boy! Well we did not last. He joked after we broke up he would just tell people JC stood for Jesus Crist. I hope he got them covered up.

I love tats. They're addicting. DH and I both have some; I have 3 and he has 2. We both want another one of DS's name, we're just not sure where to put them yet and I'm indecisive about the font.

I think tattoos are fine if they are tasteful and somewhat meaningful. I don't like when people just get stuff off the wall because it's pretty.

I have one on my foot that says "two people shorten the road" in gaelic. DH and I went to Ireland for our honeymoon. It reminds me that no matter how much he annoys me at times, my life is infinitely better with him in it.

DH has several.... He has bear tracks going up both sides of his ribs... no idea what that's about. A native american medicine wheel on the back of his neck.... drunk mistake....A phoenix on his arm, obvious phoenix symbolism. And he has baby hand prints on his collar bones to symbolize a child he lost (he had a gf in college that got pregnant and said she'd have an abortion if he didn't marry her. He didn't want to marry her and she did it... Sad ).

I might get another one for the kids one day but I'm not sure.

I have a tattoo on my foot, DH has a back tattoo. We both plan on getting tattoos for LO. DH is getting LO's footprint from the hospital paperwork on his chest or arm with the name and date. I haven't figured out what to get yet, but I have time, since I have to wait until I'm done BF-ing

I don't have tattoos but my DH has one. He hates it because he was being stupid when he was 17 years old. He wants to get it covered. I don't plan on ever getting a tattoo because I'm such a wimp when it comes to pain or even sitting still.

I like tattoos if they are in the right places. I know a girl who I use to work with would just randomly get. I would LOVE to show it to you girls, lol.

I dont have any tattoos - Every time I think of something I decide against it, so I will probably not ever have one. Dh has a lion head on his upper arm, he has a tribal band with an Indian feather on 1 calf, a pheonix on the other calf, and his entire back is a large dragon that wraps around his shoulders with a city scene in the background. His best friend used him as a guinnie pig when he was doing his tattoo apprentiship.

I don't really have a stance on them. We don't have any. I've never found one that I want on my body for the rest of my life, but I'm not opposed to them or anything.

Tattoos don't bother me...it's your body do what ya want. I think tattoo sleeves on a guy is sexy!!! I have no tattoos, always wanted one but my mother would have killed me lol. DH has 2 and D for Detroit (hes from detroit) and Coopers hand print with his initials.

I don't have any, and neither does my DH. I'm all for other people having them though. It seems like a big commitment to me..and I'd hate to be stuck with something I didn't like forever.

I have two and my dh has none. I have a cross on the lower mid back and mushroom on my upper arm. I will not get any more, I am happy with 2.

No, I'd never get one, just not my thing. And DH would never get one. It never appealed to us.

I think tattoos are okay. I'm not a fan of women with big tattoos in certain places, like on the arm. My best friend and I have matching charm bracelets on our left ankles. I've been thinking about getting another one but I want to make sure it's something I can live with.
