So other than when we've been figuring our Maeve's dairy issue we've never had to deal with the big D. Until today when we got the dreaded call from daycare that she's got runny poops and we have to pick her up pronto.
When your kid has diarrhea do you call the doctor? Go to the doctor? Or just assume they have a stomach bug and make sure they get plenty of fluids etc?
such a pleasant topic.
Re: Diarrhea cha cha cha
When Lulu's had it, the only time I called was when it went on for like 3 days. Then I started to worry. I usually give it about 2 days and see if it clears up. As long as she's still eating and drinking somewhat normally, I don't worry too much. Just try to push the clear liquids.
I hope Miss M is feeling better soon!
We've battled with many, um, consistency changes. So for us, we don't call the doc unless it's been a couple days. I generally push lots of water (sometimes mixed with just a tiny bit of juice to make it more enticing) and try to limit fruit intake. (Actually, her large fruit intake is usually my best guess as to why she's got the runs.)
Basically, if that's the only symptom she has then I wouldn't call right away. If she has a fever too, then I definitely would.
ETA: and I hope she's all better soon!!

Baby had diarrehea and was throwing up--both ends. We called the Pediatrician. And a nurse called us back and gave us instructions for using Pedialyte. And as well, we gave baby more water. Diarrhea-I knew baby had diarrhea because there is not a diaper that can hold diarrhea--it goes everywhere--his entertainer, his bouncer, everywhere. Lots of wash.
And we went in for an appointment because we were concerned about it happening from both ends.
Holden gets the sh!ts on the regular... we just do brat diet and pedialite, along with lots of butt cream (to prevent/cure the inevitable rash). I've never taken him to the dr for the problem though.
(I love the title of this thread btw!)
What everyone said, plus stock up on detergent and wipes. Because that ish gets everywhere.
And I love this bible:

Thanks everyone! I think it's definitely a stomach bug considering she just puked all over me. Good times. Looks like we will be all about fluids and BRAT.
Kaskade- thanks for that link! I will be referring to that all the time!
