similac sensitive questions!

So I have thrown in the towel on bfing and j seemed to spit up a lot with regular formula so I went an got some similac sensitive yesterday (or the target version) and he LOVES it!  Honestly last night he started refusing to drink the bm I had pumped and then when offered the formula downed 4oz which is HUGE for him as he has only been doing maybe 3oz at a sitting.  Do you think maybe he has had a lactose thing all this time and mean mommy was shoving all this bm down his throat?  Just curious as to how you decided to make the switch?  Also does costco carry the sensitive formula?  Where are the best places to get it?

Re: similac sensitive questions!

  • That is what we used with M. We switched because she was spitting up MASSIVE. Costco sells Similac sensitive. I think it is like $25 for the tub if you use a $5 similac check when you buy the formula. You might want to stick with Target brand I think that might be the cheapest way to go. I always was on the look out for Similac coupons and stocked up when it went on sale and I had coupons.

  • We get it at Costco.  It is $27.96 and when you use your $5 coupon its $22.96.   I think its a great deal.  We started her on it, because she had a hard time on BM and spit up A LOT!  She also has some tummy issues.  Only poops about 3x/week and is miserable for the day and half leading up to it.  It's much better on the Sensitive.

  • We had the same thing happen with A.  I asked our Dr. about having a lactose sensitivity but he didn't seem to think that A had one so I am not sure on that part.  I was still trying to pump but my supply was so bad that we were using more formula and then once A started refusing BM bottles but sucking down the formula that basically decided our fate.  Costco does carry the sensitive and they have had coupons for it and will also take the Similac checks.  I usually try to find the best deal on it and then stock up.  Target usually sells it for $21 where Safeway, Walgreens, and Rite-Aid all sell it for $23-24.  Sign up for the Similac newsletter because they will usually tell you when the Similac coupons are going to be in the newspaper.  HTH!

  • The babies are on Similac Sensitive. Costco has the best price and trust me I have priced and repriced since we buy for two. I think tummy issues go hand in hand with reflux. So I am sure the Sensitive feels better on his tummy. Btw Costco is a 2.12 pound jug, pretty big.

  • I don't have advice but I do have a small (sample size) can of the brand (Similac Sensitive) sitting on my counter, unopened that is all yours if you want it!  They sent it to me in the mail but we're using a different formula.
