Solid food feeders-yet another question

Does your baby get meat/protien at lunch time and dinner time? I had been giving Ry just fruit or veggies at lunch and then an actual meal at dinner time.

Is it time to start giving him some protien at lunch too?

  • We only do meat once a day.

  • We do meat or fish for dinner.  You could try doing lentils at lunch.  Those have a lot of protein.
  • When they do eat they get a protein twice/day.

  • D gets yogurt once a day at lunch. I've only given him meat once (chicken). I do plan to start giving him meat more frequently. I do give chickpeas a lot. He loves them!

We make sure that weird skin is off of them and then we smash them a little and hand feed him. He can't pick them up himself and they break apart.

You could easily puree them into a hummus, too. I figure it's a good way to get protein, fiber, etc. in him.

Excellent idea, Chef Simone! I'll be trying this Saturday!

Kaet hardly ever eats meat. She's gets it maybe once every two weeks. But, she eats lots of beans so she is getting protein.
  • I've been giving her ground chicken/meat once a day.  Either lunch or dinner, let's say if she has it for lunch I'll make sure she gets veggie/fruit with a little cereal at dinner.

  • Remy is going to be trying some chicken on his own tonight. But we have been doing pureed turkey & sweet potatoes for dinner often. If he has that, it's only once a day.

  • We only do meat at dinner. Sometimes not even. This last time I went to the store to buy jarred food and the store I went to didn't have the meat/veggie combos, so he has been having mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese for dinner lately.
