Where to Nap?

We just started LO's bed time routine recently and she's been doing a pretty good job with it.  She's always slept in her crib at bed time and with the routine, she is STTN pretty consistantly.  (we all have our off days, haha)  For naps, she never goes down in the crib.  For naps she falls asleep in our arms or in her swing and we put her down in the pnp.  Unless she fell asleep in the car when I just let her sleep in the car seat.  Does the nap location make a difference?  Do you have a nap routine?

Re: Where to Nap?

  • I actually try not to have a nap routine, other than trying to lay him down awake. He naps in his PnP, crib, the floor, swing, bouncer, couch, and carseat. I tend to try letting him sleep in various places because I'm such a busy body. I want him to be able to nap in different places so I don't feel tied down to a nap schedule. It's nice because if we are at family or friend's houses, he will sleep there as well. I will start more of a routine of napping in his crib when he gets older as is taking 1-2 naps during the day.

She naps in her swing in the guest room where we've been sleeping. She also falls asleep on the floor on her little mat in the living room. Mostly, I try to keep it bright so she doesn't confuse her days and nights.

  • Honestly, she usually naps on me or while in her carrier. If I lie her down, most of the time she will wake up, cry and not go back to sleep... ending up overtired. I am frustrated but hoping eventually I will be able to get her off me for naps!!

  • E naps either in her carseat (b/c we're out running errands or taking a walk), in the PNP, or in the sling.  Once she becomes more predictable and has a fairly consistent nap schedule I'll probably shoot for most naps in the crib. Right now we take naps however we can get them.

Especially when chasing Drew, I don't have time to go through a whole big routine of getting her to sleep during the day.  I do watch the clock and try to put her down before she becomes over tired (in her case that means 60-90 minutes of awake time).
