Maybe TMI: Vaginal Varicosity

I called my doctor this morning because I have a lump/bump on my vagina.  She had me describe it and said she's sure it's Vaginal Varicosity aka a Varicose Vein.  It's painful if I sit or stand for a long time, and it's super painful during sexy time. She said there's nothing they can do about it until after DD is delivered, but that we need to keep an eye on it.

Did anyone have these?  Any suggestions for pain relief?  HELP!

Re: Maybe TMI: Vaginal Varicosity

  • Would it look similar to a blood blister?

I think I may have a couple of those, but have never asked about them since my 6wk post-pardum when my OB suggested that they may go away on their own.  So far no such luck. ETA:  Mine are not in a position they cause any discomfort, but are unsightly.  :(

I can only suggest lube for sexy time and frequent breaks or quick walks around for those other idle times. (when is a mother ever idle? ha)

Hopefully you can get some relief in the future.

  • OMG! I had this. I hated my life with this. It lasted until DD was born and it only got worse at the end. I got mine around the same time 22 weeks. This is why I never want to be pregnant again. Chasing 2 kids, trying to make up for my lazy DH, trying to walk the mall. :/

If you are working and your job requires you to be on your feet a lot you better look into disability or something.

The only relief is child birth and trust me, I know it is the last thing you want to hear. Other than that I just sat most of the pregnancy or occasionally just dealt with the suffering.

As soon as baby was delivered it didn't hurt anymore and with in about 48 hours it was completely gone. I will pray that the baby comes a little early and that the next 17 weeks pass very quickly for you.

First, I'm sorry you had to deal with this too, but THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for your honesty.

I sit most of the day at work, but the long periods of sitting combined with 3 hours of commuting aren't helping things.  I'm looking into working from home, so I'll at least be able to sit in bed and work and skip the commute.

    Thank you again!

  • Maybe find a foam for work if your chair is firm and a foot rest? (So you can shift the weight from the front to the rear.) I would also wouldn't be afraid to buy foam for the car (check google for a local foam shop) and just use an extra pillow case to for a cover.

I tried to sleep on my left as much as possible. As fair warning somedays I would wake up and I thought it regressed (but standing for a bit brought it back) and other days sleeping/laying down 8 hours didn't help at all.

My midwife did suggest baths (not hot obviously) with a little bit of vinegar and when nothing else brought relief I sat in there for 15 minutes just to relax and let the area rest. I did that every night I could (just to enjoy some relief) while DH got the kids ready for bed.

I hope you get the okay to work from home very soon. Good Luck!
