Personally I don't like the look of a glider and would rather go with a chair that could be used in another room after I am done nursing. I plan to feed LO in this chair in the nursery during the night, instead of bringing him/her into our bed. Does anyone have any recommendations for a nice chair that would suit this need? I'm looking at some IKEA chairs since they are pretty versatile...or maybe from somewhere else I haven't considered?
TIA!
Re: IKEA chair for nursery instead of glider?
One of the girls I know used this one and loves it.

I'm looking for another chair option too- the nursing glider will cost about $600 for chair and ottoman, and I'm having a hard time justifying that price tag. I'm looking for a chair that can later be moved into my family room and am considering normal 'living room' chairs that are also glider/rockers or recliners. I want the rocking feature for sitting with a fussy baby and the reclining feature because I have really poor circulation in my legs and need to keep my feet up a lot. Plus, I don't have room for an ottoman in my nursery- it will be tight adding a chair! I posted this same question two days ago on my local and these were recommended to me:

or JC Penney is having a sale which includes some similar chairs too. I plan to go shopping this weekend to furniture stores in my area to try some out and see what they offer.
Do whatever works for you but the reason people get rockers and gliders is because, generally speaking, the movement helps to calm a baby and ultimately put them to sleep. When it's 3 am and you're tired of pacing around with baby the glider is a amazing because you get to rest a bit and still keep moving.
If you just want something to nurse in, I'd recommend getting something that has padding on the arms.
We have this one and LOVE it! BF'ing didn't work out for us though so I can't really comment on how well it works for nursing but for bottle feeding I find it to be great. I like the lower arms and the bounce allows for just enough movement. We have one in the living room and one in the nursery.
this. i'm convinced that the glider was the main reason we were able to get DS into his bedtime routine so easily. the kid can't fight a dark room, warm bottle and the glider. even if the glider never ends up being used in another room, it's been worth it to have bedtime be such an easy event.
Snuggle.
