I have lots of questions today...this is my second post so I guesss I should say "Hello."
I was supplementing with nutramigen powder, but it gave Caleb TERRIBLE smelling gas. So I tried alimentum powder, but he HATES the taste. We recently tried alimentum RTF and he has done so well with it. Out of curiousity...
Which formula are you using and why?
Does your baby have smelly gas from it?
If you use the RTF, how long is it good in the fridge? I know the label says 48 hours for prepared bottles, but my LO only gets 12 oz/day of the formula which lasts us 2.5 days, thus exceeding 48 hours.
Thanks!
Re: Alimentum and Nutramigen users...
i used alimentum. my son hated the taste also! big time!
I noticed you in your previous post that you mix. If you can slowly increase alimentum into the breast milk than she should get use to it. i started doing 3 oz of BM with 1/2 oz of formula and then adding 1/2 an ounce every day
sorry.. don't know anything about RTF
We use Alimentum RTF. It's the only formula that DD has taken to. She didn't do as well on the powder version, and the thicker RTF consistency helped with her reflux.
DD had smelly gas before we switched to Alimentum, but she does not have any gas now.
I'm sure 2.5 days as opposed to 2 days is NBD.
LO would only take the RTF Alimentum, he hated the powder version and refused to drink it. Never tried Nutramigen...
He was on RTF Alimentum for 13 1/2 months... very $$$ but well worth having a happy healthy baby!
