Desperate to SAH

I am usually a lurker on this board, but I need some help/advice. My LO is 12 weeks and I recently went back to work full time. I can't do it! I am heartbroken and desperate to stay at home and raise my son. My question is, does anyone work from home? What sort of jobs are out there to work from home? I need to figure something out! Any input is greatly appreciated!

    I think a lot of us working mom's felt this way. I have no advice as to what kind of jobs can be done from home.  Give yourself sometime to adjust to your new life and schedule.  I was in a fog the first 6 months after I started working.  I was a robot but knew that it would get better.  When DS was 9 months things started to get easier and I was some what able to balance work, home, baby, etc.  Hang in there the first week is the worst.

    Is your current job one where you could work from home, if not everyday, at least 2-3 days per week? If so, you would just need to consider that the likelihood that you get the same amount of work done in a day at home as you do in the office is low and would need to think about reducing your hours.

    I work from home, but it's b/c my job current job allows me to do it.  Even though I work from home, my kids still go to daycare.  I would not be able to get anything done with them around!  The first couple of months back to work are always hard, but it does get easier.

    Ditto this exactly. I also work from home full-time but DS goes to daycare while I work. There is no way I could do my job without someone else helping care for him. I know because I have to do both when he is sick and I only get about half a normal workday in and that is a real challenge! It does get better and more normal eventually...good luck whatever you decide to do!

    I work from home as an HR Director for a Recruiting firm - it's a virtual company.  All of our recruiters work from home and recruiting can be a great option for those who want to work at home, as long as you're open to flexible compensation (i.e. making most of your money thru commissions).  Sometimes recruiting agencies will hire people without recruiting experience, for example - if it's an agency that recruits in the healthcare industry and you have experience in the healthcare industry (or engineering, IT, whatever the industry/specialty may be).  Good luck!

    What type of work are you in? I work full time, but feel like I have more time with my daughter since the majority of my shifts are 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am. Working 2nd shift is the best since I get all morning and part of the afternoon with her!

    Is working part time an option for you? I currently work afternoons and I love the time I have with my DD and DS in the mornings. But to be honest, there are a lot of days I wish I could be home the entire day with them, especially now that it is summer. But for now, working in the afternoons is a great compromise, I still have extra time with them and am keeping current in my field and bringing home a paycheck. Best of luck to you!

    I also work from home full-time as a software analyst. I also have a full time nanny though because otherwise no work would get done. Yes it is nice to at least hear and see my kids throughout the day, but it also can be a bit confusing for them sometimes that I need to be in the other room working and not with them. There are definite pros and cons. Luckily i also have an office on location so for days when I need to get out of the house or have long conference calls I can go in and be uninterrupted/quiet.
