Tummy Sleepin ???

Jay has been refusing his naps!!! I let him have tummy time and after 10 min he was out on his tummy.

While he was playing in his crib (on his tummy) I decided to work on some homework. It was quiet in there so I went to check on him, of coarse he had fallen asleep. I am fine with him sleeping on his tummy if he wants, he can roll to his back. But he wanted his head face down into the mattress and would not turn it to the side. So I had to put him on his back.

If you LO sleep on their tummy, have you ever had a problem with them sleeping face down? (Nose into the mattress)

  • Simon's been sleeping on his tummy since about 2 months old. He does sometimes have his face looking more down than to the side, but the mattress is so firm he can still breathe fine. We're just sure to take any blankets he may be snuggling out once he falls asleep so he doesn't face plant in one of those.

  • My LO has been a tummy sleeper around at the age of 2 months since we co-sleep, I felt a bit comfortable. She hated being swaddled, there was the moro-reflex if I were to put her on her back or side and then she had acid reflux. She has really good head control so she will move her head if she is in an uncomfortable position. I think she had her face in the mattress one time so I moved her but she usually moves on her own.

  • Cooper has been sleeping on tummy since about 2 months.  I don't have a problem with him sleeping face down,  I have the problem of him having to have his head touch something. I will place him in the middle of crib and he will army crawl till his head hits top of bumper (or his stuffed caterpillar).  He also likes to bury his head in the corners of the crib, which scares the sh*t out of us.  So even though he STTN we wake up a few times a night to move him back down.  Crazy tummy sleepers!  I think that if he has good head control your LO should be fine.

Same here.. .she's occasionally slept with her face down which is fine but wants her head on the bumper as well. We have the AngelCare sound and movement monitor, so that helps relax us a bit. I think Jay will be fine if he can move his head and roll on his own. :-)
