Favorite German Names?

My fiance is German, so I was looking through the German names section. I'm not really in love with any of the guy names, except for Wilhelm which sounds kind of badass. German girl names we were looking at Carolina, Johanna, Elsie, Elsa, and Annaliese.

 

Thoughts? What are your favorite German names?

    i love carolina [pronounced the traditional way] but i couldn't convince my husband not to say it like the states. liesel [as opposed to the traditional liesl, i think it's more accessible here] was also toward the top of my list but he hates it, too. annaliese is pretty but i prefer the anneliese spelling.

    i vote for carolina, though, i wish i could have used it!

    eta: i don't know what name sites/ books you've looked at so far but you might check out this list from behind the name. i went through a phase where i only looked at german names and i think i looked through every list i could find on the internet. there are some great, completely usable names. good luck!

    Liesl & Sabine.

    Apparently, DD's name is also German- Amalia. There was an empress with that name.

    Wilhlem is pretty cool. I think my favorite german boy name is Joachim. Its my Grandpa's younger brother's name and my grandparents are a german immigrants. I like my grandpa's mn, Fritz, too. DDs mn is Johanna, which was my Grandma's name, so we pronounce it the way she did- "Yo-haw-nah." My grandma used the nn Hannie, pronounced "Haw-nie." I seriously considered using Johanna as DDs first name, but I didn't like the nn Jo and while I love the nn Hannie, the thought of using Grandma's nn just made me sad (she passed 10 years ago and I miss her like crazy).Other relative names I love are Marina (my aunt who still lives in Germany) and Gisela (one of my great aunts).

    My family is from Germany. Favorite names:

    Johannes/Johann

    Dominik 

    Harald 

    Falko

    are all strong boy names. Also classic names like Thomas work.

     For girls:

    Love Helene (pronounced Heh-LAYNE-uh)

    Ilsa 

    Katrin

    Erika
