Parenting after 35

**NewMrs07**

I just wanted to say how relieved I am to see your posts about how active and how much of a handful Adrian is.   Aaron is the SAME way and, like you, most of his care is on me and sometimes it's exhausting.

I feel like he's the only child (I see/read about) who throws tantrums for no apparent reason (to us, I'm sure he knows) and who runs around and screams and won't hold my hand when out in public--and not in the stroller. The reason I stopped going to story time was because he ran around all the time and would never sit still. At least at The Little Gym he's not the only one who does that.

I'm not assuming A is like A... but maybe he is?  If he is, I'd feel better about my crazy sweet little boy. Because he IS sweet... he's just crazy too.

  • BIP....Robyn, I can give you loads of evil Finn stories. Aaron sounds more well behaved than my lo. Everything you described above describes Finn. I can't take him hardly anywhere without a bucket full of cookies and a lot of prayers. Finn is sweet and cuddly and can be the biggest brat on the planet, slamming his head into the ground or dive bombing out of our arms if he doesn't think he is getting what he wants. He is the definition of tantrum and is being raised the same way as my other son who never really did any of this. It is just strong, stubborn personalities. I can't imagine where Finn got that (snicker, hee, hee)

  • Hi Robyn, just saw your post. Adrian has slowed down a LITTLE, but he's still a handful. Now at least he holds my hand sometimes when we go outside, he does it mostly because he wants me to walk in a certain direction or wants to show me something. He obeys somewhat but still has a very annoying scream that he uses when he wants something and we don't allow it. It's clearly a manipulation scream, and it drives us nuts. He still resists the car seat and stroller although he's getting better. I also almost stopped going to story time because all he wanted to do was run around and press keys on the moderator's electronic keyboard. I think we might have to get him one, maybe the kid likes to play music!

His new thing is biting. DH and I have a few painful bite marks on our arms. We're currently trying to get him to stop that, especially since he's starting a new day care on Monday. I'm afraid he's going to bite kids and say "oh fvck" all day long and they're going to kick him out, lol!!!

    Fun times...

Me: 44 DH: 42. DS born healthy at 40 weeks 8/24/09. TTC since then with no luck or ART. Surprise BFP 8/6/14... MMC @ 8 weeks 4 days... Miss you everyday sweet baby angel.
  • Hey, Ladies!  All I can say is -- PHEW!  I'm glad it's not just me!  Misery loves company, hee hee!  I was beginning to think that I must be the world's worst parent (though the jury is still out on that one) given his behavior.  Caleb is doing all of the above, including the biting.  Lately, he has taken to saying "Oh, snap!"  as an expletive (I blame DH for that one).  Then, he'll fix me with one of those cute little big boy/baby smiles and I can't help but swoon!
