Babies: 3 - 6 Months

When did you start offering solids twice a day?

We started solids about 2 weeks ago...she is almost 5 months old. She did rice for a week and now on oatmeal in the evenings. When did you start a second "meal"? Meaning how long after you started solids did you add in a second meal?

  • At DD's 4 month appointment, the pedi said we could start cereals twice a day as long as we stuck to the same cereal for 4-5 days at a time to watch for allergies.  She said that after we'd tried rice, oatmeal, and barley cereals, we could start trying stage 1 veggies and fruits.

  • We did it after only a few days...mainly b/c DH wanted to try feeding him at night when he got home from work. It works out great b/c DS usually eats more often at night (nurses around 5 or 530 and then again before bed at 7 or 730), so having some solid food in there I feel like helps him not be so hungry b/c towards the end of the day I tend to not have as much milk left after him nursing all day and having 2 nursing sessions so close together at night
