At my DS's 6 month check-up (about 2 weeks ago) the pedi told me I could start solids..Well I've been trying & DS has NO interest-he shuts his mouth whenever I come near it with a spoon. I've tried 1, 2 & 3 hours (he eats every 4 hours) after a bottle and before a bottle. When I've tried before a bottle I know he's hungry because he will suck down his bottle after I try to feed him solids. I try not to worry too much because my DS was 21lbs 8oz at his check up & in the 95th percentile so I don't believe he's malnourish. Did anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions? Should I call the pedi?

Re: Solids question
My Blog

My kid is 19 months old, about 23-24 pounds soaking wet and STILL has zero interest in eating. Never has. Ever. I still shove purees down his throat to get some nutrition in him. Pedi says that's just his "thing." Sigh.
I think you're fine.
He watches when we eat. I'm feeding him rice cereal with peaches, green beans or squash. The pedi said I can feed him cereal with a fruit or vegetable.
Yeah he is a big'un that's why I wasn't way too worried about it.
You may want to try just cereal for a bit - think we did just cereal, thickening it up a bit each week for 2-3 weeks before adding fruit and veg purees. Also, DD HATED rice cereal but loved oatmeal, so maybe play around a little with thinner/thicker and cereal types/brands.
But I think the pp are right, don't stress about it.
