3rd Trimester

35 weeks and 95% thinned out!!!!

Well it looks like our little guy may be here well before his due date!  Had an appointment today and I'm 1-2 centimeters dialated, cervix is 95% thinned out, and baby's head is at stage 0.  Doctor said I'll have him no later than Friday.  Our due date is July 5 so this is well before we thought we'd have him!  I'm so excited!!!  Hope all the other mommies to be are doing great!

  • Not to be a debbie downer, but your dr has no way of knowing when you will deliver.

With DD2 at 35 weeks I was dilated to 4 and 80% efaced.  I had contractions everyday and stayed that way for 4 weeks.  No change at all and having contractions everytime I walked even five steps.

For your sake I hope your baby is ready to come that early and you don't have contractions like I did.  However for your dr to give you that much hope at 35 weeks is not very nice of him.

  • Oh wow! He's ready to come out!!! Congrats and I hope that everything goes OK with taking him home immediately, since he's a little early. :)

  • I just saw what you are naming your baby, and it's the same we are naming our son!  First and middle name!  We chose Levi because of the biblical meaning and James for a very close family friend that was killed during our pregnancy.

Thank you for you the information about what happened with your baby - our Levi is measuring big and we had an ultrasound last week where they said everything looks great and developed...I think my dates are off a bit but either way, I hope he's healthy...hopefully I dont have to go through 4 weeks of contractions, but if he's not ready to come out, then we'll wait!

Good luck with your pregnancy too!Smile

  • Wow, that?s so exciting! I am also due on July 5th and that just gets me excited to know you might have your baby sooner than that. I have my group B coming up next week and was hoping to find out that I have a little something going on? I know it could take forever to actually deliver but to know I have something going on would be really exciting for me!

After your post earlier and now this one, I have to say I agree with you, you do know nothing! You are only 35 weeks pregnant and that is an estimate that could be off by as much as 2 weeks. Your baby could  and probably will spend time in the NICU if born at 35 weeks. If I thought I was progressing or heading in the direction of labor that early I would be worried sick, not excited. Think of your baby's health, please!

My water broke at 35 weeks with DS and he spent zero time in the NICU.  We were blessed that he was fully developed.  I hope that will be the same in your case.  At my 34 week appt with this LO I was 2 cent. dilated and the baby the very low.  Everyday I stay preg.  I am very thankful.

Don't let them freak you out.  Try to stay off your feet and relax.

  • Hope things go well for you. Your LO could have to stay in the NICU for a short time if born early so i wouldnt go in thinking i would get to take him home right away.  Always be prepared and weigh the possibilities.  But just bc he is early doesnt mean he will face NICU time.  My daughter was born at exactly 34 weeks and faced no NICU time.  She came home about 18 hrs after i did only bc she had jaundice and had to be placed under the lights.

THIS!  Some people are just rude...I agree with the lady directly above this.  Just because you're excited to meet your LO doesn't mean you know nothing.  It's normal to be excited, even though it is a bit early.  At this point in our pregnancies, baby is pretty much fully developed...just putting on some needed baby fat.  So, take it one day at a time and good luck to you.  Don't let Negative Nancies pull you down...just hope and pray that you'll get to take your sweet muffin home soon out of the hospital.  Good luck to you, hun!

  • I hope he stays put a little longer! I was 5 cm with DD at 35 weeks and she ended up being 4 days overdue! So I hope your little one holds out! Good luck!

  • I was actually speaking to deftonesangels when I made the you know nothing comment, in response to her post below entitled "I feel like I know nothing" I didn't even mean to freak out op when I wrote what I did. I am shocked that she would be excited and not the slightest bit concerned about her baby.

I stand by my statement, wishing/hoping/being excited about a baby coming 5 weeks early is ignorant. A LOT happens in the last month, more than just putting on baby fat... but I guess that is why they say ignorance is bliss...

  • You are right that ignorance is bliss and in this case that certainly does apply to you.  Maybe I should have posted a little more information - my baby has been measuring big since about 24 weeks and my doctor's office informed me that they do not change due dates but it appeared my baby was further along than originally expected.  So based on my 'original' due date, I'm 35 weeks but he is measuring more along 37-38 weeks.  My doctor told me during my appointment today not to worry and that my son is healthy and when he's ready to come, he'll come.  Sure I was a bit scared when he told me that I'm so close to delivering, but after he assured me that where I'm at and the size and development of my son is healthy for delivery, I turned my worry into excitement.  Besides, I'm going to trust what my professional doctorr is telling me, not what a naysayer that doesn't know the details of my pregnancy.  I understand that you are trying to be realistic, etc., but again, you are right, ignorance is bliss.

I am sure your Dr. knows nothing and all these "know it alls" on the Bump can give you better medical information. hahaha LOL......As you can probably tell i am being sarcastic! Your baby should be fine at 35 weeks (although its always better the longer they "bake") If there was cause for concern your Dr. would certainly voice his concerns. Congrats to you!

  • A friend of mine that wasn't due until July 2nd, just had her baby yesterday.  He is just under 6 lbs and completely healthy.  I wouldnt listen to the ignorant comments, and I would be super excited!  Listen to your doctor!  My baby was also measuring big at 20 weeks and they wouldnt change my due date.  I am not 35 weeks and 50% effaced!  I know it could still be awhile, but its was exciting news to hear :)

    good luck with everything!
