Milk sensitivity showing up later?

I suspect a milk sensitivity in my LO. He has been spitting up/vomitting alot more recently, has been extremely fussy and has explosive poops. I cut out dairy for a few days and he seems to be doing better already, But, when he was in the NICU and probably the first few weeks he was home, he did not have any of these symptoms he has now. Can a milk sensitivity show up later, or is it usually there from day 1?

Re: Milk sensitivity showing up later?

  • It's possible for symptoms to take a while to show up. I didn't figure out that my LO had a milk allergy until he was 3 months old. He had some early symptoms, but I didn't put the pieces together until he had blood in his stool at 3 months.

Definitely, they can show up later. My son had no signs other than being extremely fussy and gassy for the first 2 months. We switched to soy, and he became a different baby. Now, it is more of a skin reaction, his eczema flares really bad.

It can definitely show up later.  It happened to my LO at around 6 weeks.

  • It didn't show up in DD until 12 months.
