Companies that provide on-site daycare?

Do y'all know of any companies in Austin that provide on-site daycare either for a small fee or at no cost to the employee? I'm wondering if that kind of employee perk even exists anymore...

Re: Companies that provide on-site daycare?

  • I think DH looked at two companies that offered on-site daycare - I want to say B a z a a r V o i c e and FB. This was at least 3 years ago, so that may have changed.

  • The IRS main south office used to, like PP, not sure anymore!

Seems like more companies would and/or should =(

  • I think google does.  I had a friend who works there and long time ago said something about it, but not sure if they still do. I know it is still out there, USAA in SA provides it.

  • I also think SAS does, but I am not 100% sure

I know that Texas Association of School Boards used to, but not sure if they do anymore.

I've been at B a z a a r V o i c e for 4 and 1/2 years and we haven't had daycare since I've been here.  If we did I would be using it.  Just fyi - it must have been somewhere else.

  • The IRS still offers it but the waiting list is years long.

FYI, USAA has an on-site facility, but it's not free.
  • JCP does (Plano)

Must have been somewhere else then! Like I said, it was a long time ago. But I know he did find a couple companies that offered it. It wasn't free, though.

  • UT does, but it has a waiting list of 1.5-2 years.
  • It's pretty rare these days to find a company that provides this. It really changes the level of insurance coverage that a company needs in terms of liability coverage, etc. We've looked at it a few times (I'm in HR) and never been able to justify the additional cost to the company. A lot of places will have discounts with providers that are nearby, but that's about it!

    F r e e s c a l e on Parmer has a Stepping Stone (I think?) on their campus. I don't think it's a perk as an employee, but it is onsite.

I used to work at this one and I think Freescale employees would get first dibs for spots and they had a smaller ratio compared to other daycares in order to stay there.  I drove past that building the other day and I didn't see the Freescale plaque on the sign anymore.  So their ratios may have gone up if they no longer have to go by Freescale's requirements.
