I was able move my Big US up a week!! Anyway I am planning on having my party on June 25. My husband all along has said what a dumb idea the party is, blah blah blah. He is not on board at all, and being a total a** about it. It's important to me because it is our last kid and we did things his way the first time around. So I am doing it anyway. It will be very small, limited to family and our BFF's. Ideally I would want a bbq with a bunch of people, but marriage is about compromise right?
So my question is, if you had your cake made by a proffesional how much did you pay for it? My husband said he would make it, but I say he** no to that.
Thanks!
Re: Pink or Blue party vent/question
exactly, he wants to find out earlier because he doesn't care about the party. I am not too worried about cost, I guess no matter what I do he will be a brat so I am just going to do what I want
Let him be a poop. Call it a Summer BBQ and tell him once the baby comes you guys will MIA as friends so this is a nice way to host before you fall off the face of the earth for a while.
....And yes, I bet Albertson's (who did our wedding cakes = cheap, yum and gorgeous) or Safeway would love to make one! Those bakers get tired of Sponge Bob sheet cakes and might really go to town on special orders.
Why would that defeat the purpose of the party? You could be having the party to tell your family you are having a boy or girl. I knew I was having a girl and made pink cupcakes with dark frosting. It was tons of fun watching everyones face when they bit into the cupcakes
I just assumed , perhaps incorrectly, that they were the ones that wanted to be surprised when they cut the cake. You're right that the party could be a reveal of the gender to others besides the parents.
Yeah I always assumed it was so everyone was surprised too...
him making the cake is a dumb idea... unless you guys arent waiting to find out at the party for some reason?? I ordered mine from top foods and its costing 14.99. KristalovesJared just had her pink and blue party and they got their cake from safeway and Im pretty sure they paid around 14 too, and it was a cute cake! Whle I agree with you that someone else should make it, I dont think its necessary to spend $50-$100 on it, which is what I have seen some local bakers charge.
But its your party, so you do what you want, regardless of what your dh says
ETA: I didnt read the replies first, I guess I could have left out the party about Krista's party since she replied =P
