I got ear tubes put in for myself a few weeks ago. I need to get some more permanent plugs, especially with summer time here. Any recs for where you got them for your kids? Or what you do to keep water out of their ears while showering and swimming?
so I bought the $15 plugs at the ENT since both boys have tubes. BIG.FAT.FAIL. I even put some aquafor on them because they said it gives better suction. So my next trip I will try ear wax. I am really lost so I can't wait to see more posts on this.
I have tubes in (5th time in my life now) and my ENTs don't recommend any plugs for me (adult) or children actually. I am just careful really. I try not to go under water, but even if you do there is a bit of suction/vaccuming effect that will keep water out if you don't stay under long or go too deep. BELIEVE me, if you go down deep you will pay for it. I had to dive in to help a friend's child on Memorial day and my ears BURNED when the water got in them from going to deep. However for everyday showers, the ENT said that it's highly UNlikey to get water in them unless you are turning your ear directly in the water stream. I've had at least 10 diff sets of ear plugs, feel that they are all a waste (IMO).
Bailey's ENT doesn't recommend ear plugs either unless you are swimming in a body of water and/or going under at least 2 feet. He told us it's unlikely water will get in them in the bath or shower.
