Re: Twin Boy Names
I can only be honest and say that not only do I not like either of them individually (I really do not like Lincoln, and I think the controversy surrounding Cohen is a lot to put on a kid), but I also do not think that they go together well.
Sorry!
Don't be sorry! I want honest opinions. Explain the bold for me though.
DH is really against matchy matchy names, so them 'going together; isn't an issue. They are individuals.

I like Lincoln, but I would avoid Cohen due to the controversy.
(A lot of people in the Jewish community find using this name as a first name to be very offensive. Someone will probably post a link for you to read. It is a traditional, almost sacred Jewish surname that means "priest.")
Ah, ok! Thanks for clarifying. I have not heard that yet.

Sure! I thought it was a cute alternative to Owen that was made popular by the Cohen family on the O.C, and I know a few moms who used it before hearing about the controversy. I think most non Jewish people had no idea they were choosing a name that could offend people. Once I found out, I've realized it is a hot button issue for quite a few people.
I think Lincoln is just *okay*....I have never heard of it being used as a first name before looking on these baby name forums. I told my DH a couple nights ago that it seems like this is becomming a popular name and he laughed at it, to be honest. BUT, it seems like it will be a normal/trendy name going forward.
Cohen is cute, not really my style, but I don't hate it by any means. I had no idea there was any controvery surrounding the name.

Thanks for the honest input. DH has loved the name Lincoln since we were pregnant with our DD over 4 years ago. I told him he could have it this time if we had a boy. I didn't love it at first but it grew on me. We got the name off of Prison Break. Pretty funny. DH wants to call him Linc.
I had no idea about the Jewish conncetion to the name Cohen either. I am not marking it off my list but will talk to DH and see hoe he feels about it.

This is the most recent link on Cohen (complete with K spelling abomonation!) that has links and explanations of the controversy. It's actually a slightly different issue, but like I said, links and explanation.

No on Cohen for me because of the controversy.

I wouldn't use either, personally. However, Cohen seems "normal" to me now, b/c I know a little boy with this name. Still can't get on board with Lincoln. If you love them though, they are not terrible. It could be a lot worse.
ETA: There are no Jewish people where I live, so the Cohen controversy never comes up. It is definitely something to think about, especially since your son may not always live where you are now.
Hahaha, the first thing I thought of when I saw the name was "Linc the Sink". FWIW, I'd totally go with Wentworth instead

Also, I don't know any Jewish people or even live near where there's any sort of Jewish community but I'd stay away from Cohen too. You never know what a kid's gonna want to do when they're older.
Lincoln is okay, not really my style to use last names as first names unless it is a family name but I get the trend.
It is boggling my mind to see the name Cohen coming up as a first name on this board, I have never heard of that before. Being from the Northeast where there is a huge Jewish population I cannot even imagine anyone using that a first name. If your kids come to a school in NY, NJ or MA they may get the side-eye.
This is exactly how I feel about it. I would never name my child Muhammed or Ghandi. Why name your kid Cohen?
