night light?

DS has been STTN for just about four weeks now so I don't want to mess with a good thing, but I'm wondering....does your LO sleep with any kind of light at night?  DS sleeps in the total dark- he has a humidifier running, a white noise machine and a small oscillating fan- totally content.  But I've read recently that they can wake up startled due to the darkness...just curious WYD.

Re: night light?

  • We have no nightlight. The only thing on in his bedroom is his fan and his humidifier since he has a sinus infection and is stuffed up.  Any small amount of light makes DS stir/not be able to fall back asleep on his own if he wakes up so I don't know that I want to mess around with a night light.

  • We have the light from the monitor base in her room and a nightlight that aims towards the floor.  We have the option to turn off the light on the monitor if we want to.  I like having these little lights in there at night so that I can see her without having to wake her up too much with the overhead light.

  • we have a night light in there. Actually we have night lights all over the house so we can see if we get up. Plus its easier for me if she gets up in the middle of the night because I don't need to turn anything on and it still keeps her in sleep mode.

  • We just have the little light on the monitor, but it's hidden behind a picture frame, so it barely makes any light in there.

I'd say ~ if it's working they way you've got it now, don't change it! Smile

  • LO is still sleeping in our bedroom, & we have it completely dark & quiet at night.  She's just STTN the past 2 nights, and has occasionally off & on the past month or so.

  • We have a twilight turtle that projects stars on the ceiling. It shuts off after an hour or so, but we press a button to turn it back on if we want to check in on DS. He likes to stare at the stars sometimes, too.

This. We have a pink flower wall light from Ikea.  It's dim enough for her to sleep, but light enough to not need to turn on any real lights.

  • We have a small LED night light in DD's room but not for her, its for us when we go in at night if needed so we dont have to turn on the light and wake her up.

  • We use a nightlight but only cause the crib is in our room until I can buy baby monitors( I won't hear DD if she wakes up cause we're on the 1st floor and her room is on the 2nd floor). And the nightlight makes it easier to feed and change her, IF she wakes up when it's still dark, so I don't have to turn the big light on and wake up my SO.

  • We have this too, only ours is a ladybug  - it's the coolest! But more often we use the monitor base.
