Now that it's warmer and vacation is (finally!) around the corner, what are you doing for swim diapers? I got a coupon for Huggies LIttle Swimmers, but I know Pamper's has a kind too. Any recommendations? I also saw at the store something that the baby wears instead of a diaper (at least I think that's what it was!) and it's diaper like, but is supposed to trap whatever inside and not leak out, but it didn't look super absorbent...
Walmart has swim diapers for $5.00 and they are basically just speedo bottoms that catch poop. We bought some Pampers disposable swim diapers on Amazon but haven't used them yet.
I did not know this. So basically you have to put the special swim diaper on JUST for swimming, but hanging out she needs a regular diaper? Sounds like a total PITA to me. Gross for pools.
We swim in a large lake, so I might let her start skinny dipping early if the diapers are basically useless. For some reason V only poops when she's eating.
I have Bummis cloth swim diaper. We will be doing a lot of swimming, and I could not see spending money on lots of swim diapers. I got a cloth one for 13. Like people said they are all only meant to hold poop not pee cloth or disposable.
While swim diaper seem like a waste, consider the alternative:
Regular disposable becoming totally saturated with water and basically exploding in a swimming pool leaving that weird silicone-y stuff all over. Gross.
I'll shell out a couple bucks to avoid that mess even if all I am catching is poop.
Yeah, I agree with Serendipity. It's not a waste if it avoids the exploding diaper. Besides our pool requires one so I don't have a choice. We have the Huggies swim diapers which got much better reviews than Pampers on Amazon. We tried them once, and I found them hard to get on and off even though he didn't even poop in it. Supposedly the sides tear away, but it was a little more difficult than I thought it should be. I did however get a cloth swim diaper (iPlay) for $10 on Amazon. He wore it yesterday and it was much easier to get off/on. It also would hold at least some pee if he were to go only once. The elastic keeps the poop in.
We use cloth swim diapers. A lot of public pools require reusable swim diapers or at least a cover since disposable ones tend to not work very well. There's no elastic across the back so stuff can just float up...
I use Huggies Swim diapers at home in the baby pool. I have an iplay if we go elsewhere. I did just read an article about reusing swim diapers- If they do not poo in them you can throw them in your laundry and wash them and let them air dry up to 3 times before throwing them away.

We just bought a Monkeez swim diaper (cloth). We haven't tried it out in the pool yet, but it's cute and it's one size fits all so we'll be able to use it next summer too. I wish I could have bought more than one though. I got the last boy-colored one; all that's left on their website now is pink.
