Ultrasounds aren't that fun anymore...

I can't see anything!!! the girls are SOOO squished I have no idea what the tech is measuring or looking at. At like 20 ish weeks I loved looking at the adorable little feet and the profile shots and all that. Now I can't tell what I'm looking at...even if the tech tells me. Today the tech couldn't even get a profile picture of either baby for me.

And now I'm so big that laying on my back for the ultrasounds makes me feel like I'm going to pass out..

All this to say if you are sad that you aren't getting regular ultrasounds, don't worry! They aren't that fun anymore!

(Oh and PS - the girls are doing good apparently, since I had no idea what the tech was doing. Smile and are measuring 4lbs8oz and 4lbs3oz. A little small, but my dr. is really happy with their sizes so I am too! The tech even said she might be off on the weight measurements because of how squished they are.)

  • I am with you! No good profile shots in the past 3 scans so the 20 week one was the best. Luckily today mine was at the hospital so they were able to get a 4D pic. It took her a few tries though since Zooey is so squished in there. I posted it below. It is still cool to get an idea of her size though.

I agree!  The last two I have had they had a hard time even getting head measurements because she is so low.  And the last time we got an OK shot her nose was so squished on my uterus it looks like she has a hole in her nose on the pic.  And I was soo uncomfortable today during the U/S I would have gladly passed on it.  Our LO is measuring about 4lbs 1oz so your two seem to be doing great, I am a biot nervous about how little ours will be since I am high risk to go any time now too.

  • I agree; I can't tell what I'm looking at anymore either.  The 32 wk ultrasound was totally diff't from the 20 wk anatomy scan.  I kept thinking I saw a hand but it would be an elbow.  I end up getting a short US 2x wk now after my NST and the baby is head down and facing backward so all they can see is the back of his/her head.  I'm glad the baby is in position but agree that the US just aren't all that exciting anymore!

  • I'm also having twin girls :). The last two ultrasounds I haven't been able to bring home pictures. It is kind of sad lol. But its mainly because they are both head down and getting bigger, not much space to see their faces. I can't wait until Friday I get to see how much they weigh :):).

  • I actually feel a little better after reading your posts because I'm having a growth scan tomorrow and I was worried our team green baby would give us a 'money shot' - - after reading this thread, I guess I shouldn't be so nervous.

  • I was getting growth scans every 4 weeks, and since week 32 I get biophysical profiles once a week along with twice weekly NSTs. It's nice to see the baby on the scan, but like pp said, he's getting squished and it's hard to see things.  I'm just happy he's measuring 6lbs 2oz right now, and not tiny like his big brother was!!

  • Agreed.  I have an u/s every week to check fluid levels, and those are really fast - they don't even really look at the babies, just the fluid around them.  The growth ultrasounds every four weeks are a little better, but it is really hard to see anything.  I'm excited for those just to check on babies' weights and growth.  You definitely don't see the cuteness of the earlier ultrasounds.  And agreed - lying on my back for two hours is torture - I usually have to roll over at least once or twice.

  • I have a growth scan for the girls tomorrow and I think it will be the last time I will be able to get a good face shot of them. They usually try for a 3D shot for us too so I am hoping for one more! I am also excited to see how big they are getting.
