Eliza has always slept until at least 7:30am, but the last week she has been up anywhere between 4:30-6:30am. I really don't get it because she has been going to bed later than usual too. I give her a little bit to see if she goes back down, but she isn't and when I go in, she is still drowsy and dozes for a bit when we snuggle, but not for long. This morning, I think she was hungry because she was signing crackers and cheese the minute I walked in the room.
Any thoughts or ideas on how to get her back to sleeping a little later? Between the later bedtime and earlier wakeups, I feel like she is digging a sleep hole.
I did buy room darkening curtains yesterday and plan to hang them today!
Re: What's up with the super early waking???
I have found that making bed time later actually makes my girls wake earlier... strange I know. But they are both waking up by 6:10 at the latest lately, and seem to be waking each other up. Nice, huh?!
I think it has to do with all the day light and birds in our case. Can you darken her room any more? Also I would see if pushing bedtime earlier will help.
Good luck!
All this, exactly. If I push bedtime later, we have to get up earlier. It don't like it a bit.
The earlier daylight isn't helping us either...and the birds love the flowering vine right outside her window. I really, really dislike birds lately.
I'd put her regular bedtime back and hang those curtains and see what happens. Good luck!
Thanks, ladies! The later bedtime has been for two reasons: 1. she just didn't seem ready at 7 anymore. She was really hyper and it was taking forever to get her down. 2. circumstances. It seems with the longer days, we are doing more in the evenings, staying out later etc...
I think we will try going back to the 7o'clock hour at least and see how it goes, especially with my fancy new curtains.
The birds - yes!! I am hearing them as early as 4:30, so maybe she is too!
