Where in your daily line up is your child's bath time?
I am not one to do well with routine - as in doing things the same way day in and day out makes me nuts! I am finished with a 9 month job I took and finding myself with time and freedom and flexibility...SO, I am going crazy and changing things up! Waahoo! Sometimes the nightly bath routine is such a beating - just considering my options and curious what works for you.
Re: Bath Time ?
We had been doing bath time in the late afternoon(before dinner) so that it was done and DH can just play with them or whatever when he gets home from work. He gets home around 7/7:30 and they go to bed at 8.
However, now that summer is here, they are playing outside in the evening more so I started doing bath time at night as part of their bed time routine.
We do dinner, bath and bed (7:00). DH does dinner and bath most nights. C is still so messy after dinner and sweaty from playing, I don't think we could change it if we wanted to. Plus, he associates the routine with going to sleep.
Although, he did jump into the shower with DH this morning for an extra rinse, lol.
Usually 3-4x week she gets a bath before bed, and a couple times a week I put her in the shower with me in the morning.
Pretty much this minus the messy part.
Its nice because while DH is giving DS a bath, I can clean up dishes from dinner and whatever else needs done so that by the time DS is in bed, DH and I are both done with "work" for the day.
I forget your DH's work situation, but would it be possible for him to help with the bath/bed routine?
I do it at night. I thought about doing it mid-morning during the winter...mostly for something to do to break up the day. It never really worked out though.

Bath time is around 7:30, every other night. Occasionally we'll go three days inbetween baths is she's not very dirty and we're especially tired. Bath is followed by pajamas, teeth brushing, stories, and bed. On nights without the bath, we go straight to the pajamas around 7:45.
I used to bathe DD at different times of the day when she was an infant but we've been doing nighttime baths for at least 2-1/2 years now and I think it works well.
We do bath right after dinner, unless we go somewhere or are playing outside then we do it right before bed.
When DH is home (if we arent going anywhere) he will take them right up to the bath from dinner. DS is usually a mess and will rub food in his hair so there's no way he could go without a daily bath. When DS was younger and still bathing in the infant tub in the kitchen, I would do his bath right before dinner just to get it out of the way. But now it's much easier to just do them both together.
It's a little harder now that we play outside after dinner often. Sometimes, if we're just putting them in the bike trailer for a bike ride, we'll still do the bath right after dinner and they'll go in their pj's. But if they are going to be playing outside and possbily getting dirty or we go for ice cream or something, we clean them up as good as we can and then do the bath when we get home. (it's a pain though when we have to rush it).
