Overnight Diapers for Toddler

Hi all!  My DS has gone above and beyond the "heavy wetter" definition.  Please share any recommendations for a dry night/morning.  During the day we CD.  At night we have tried Up & Up, Luvs (next size up), Pampers Baby Dry and a store brand Pull Up for nighttime, we've moved up in diaper sizes and he's leaking out of everything.  He still leaks when I put a cloth diaper cover over his sposies.  DH thinks we need to try a regular diaper layered with a pull up but that just sounds like a ridiculously high cost per night as well as a breeding ground for a yeast rash (he's been prone to them since his last round of antibiotics... which is a battle to discuss in another post).  I appreciate any ideas!

Thanks!

  • Would you consider CD at night?  I have found pockets with hemp liners are great for heavy wetting. I would also suggest wool covers that are nicely lanolized. Wool is AWESOME for night.

We use Huggie Overnights in one size larger than needed during the day. Or if that doesn't work, you can get a diaper doubler (kind of like a maxi pad that sits inside the diaper) for some extra protection. I have only needed to use these inside of a regular diaper (although you could use it inside a night time diaper) for nighttime use if I ran out of Overnights.
  • Huggies Overnights have always worked well for us.  My kids have still leaked through them sometimes, but without them it would be every night for sure.

same here. We use Huggies Overnights. I also noticed that he'd wet through if I used A&D on him. So at night, if I needed to I'd use ButtPaste which seems to help keep the wet throughs to a minimum

  • Thanks ladies!  We've tried to do CD overnight, but not with Wool.  I'll look into some Wool combined with hemp, etc. but also try the Huggies overnights.

  • We've used the Huggies Overnights on Ben for a looooong time.  I swear by them.  I made the mistake of trying the Pampers Extra Protection diapers one time because they were on sale and I had a coupon.  They were awful.  We used them 4 or 5 nights in a row and he leaked every single night.  I emailed Pampers and told them that I wanted my money back (and got it).
