I have begun pumping at least once to twice a day to start to build a supply for when I go back to work and also to allow her to get at least one bottle a day (makes our lives easier when we leave to run an errand)!
Anyhow, I always feed her on one breast only...then I will pump on the other breast.
I have found when I pump what comes out is inconsistent....
Sometimes I can pump out 3+ ounces in 20 minutes, other times it will be only one ounce.
I wonder if the fluctuation in what I produce is the same when she feeds...like if a breast at X time a day produces 3 ounces when she feeds she gets the same...or does her suck produce more...Any insight?
Re: Does she get as much as I pump?
What you pump does NOT equal what you baby gets when he/she nurses.
A baby is much more efficient at getting the milk out than a pump, so it is not a reliable way to tell how much milk you are producing.
