Postpartum Depression

Any good book recommendations on dealing with PPD?

I'm in my 3rd tri and getting more worried every day about the post partum period. I have a history of depression and I am really scared I"m going to get PPD.

I am more scared of this than labor..much more.

Just wondering if anyone has read any good books on the topic of PPD that helped them get through or prevent PPD?

  • I had PPD right when my daughter was born. A book that helped me a lot to get througt it until the meds kicked in is ''Chicken soup for the soul:Think Positive''. It just made me feel a little better everytime I would lose myself in a story about positiveness.

A counselor recommended to me "Mothering the New Mother" by Sally Placksin.  There is a good chapter on PPD and the entire book talks about the feelings a new mum often has to deal with and how she can get support.

  • Life Will Never Be the Same helped me feel "normal". I felt like the book was speaking directly to me. It was given to me by my therapist.
