Breastfeeding her 4 y/o (turned 4 in February). Yeah I'm all for breastfeeding but I think when your child can walk around and eat a hot dog and chips he really doesn't need breast milk anymore. I donno, maybe I'm wrong. I haven't (and wouldn't) said anything to her, but he just went up and started pulling at her bra b/c he wanted milk. I must have not hidden my shock well b/c she told me she's tried to wean him for a year with no luck. She's using a towel to cover but my nephew is 5 and just fascinated, wondering what he is doing. Go ask your father bud.
This could be my unpopular opinion, and I don't mean to offend anyone...

Re: Guess what my friend is doing right now?
Yes, I think weird too.
Although dd ate chips pretty young, and hot dogs even younger

Charlie nursed until he self-weaned, which was at 3 years 2 months old. I think he is a fairly well-adjusted, smart & happy kid. His extended nursing did not harm anyone, himself included. I did choose to only nurse him in private & less frequently once he was over 2 (and I was visibly pregnant w/ Paul).
Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Oh, and Paul @12 months old can walk around, eat hot dogs & chips & "ask" to nurse (he signs & says "miiiiik")

Ya, I think this for me too. Bc I would think by 4, at the very most would be morning and night. When I picture what she wrote...to be nursing in the daytime during a get together with other people - it's like he still nurses on demand which seems too much at that point.
In her own home, whatever...in public, at 4 years old? A little creepy.
HOWEVER, I'm jealous of anyone who CAN breastfeed since my child HATED it and wouldn't latch for 10 weeks when I finally gave up.

I do think it would be weird to see - but I can't think of a reason that it should be any different than nursing a baby. I mean...why is it weird? I guess because no one does it in this country?
I totally thought of that Adam Sandler movie too - haha!
