I don't think I've mentioned this because it all happened pretty quickly, but I have surgery tomorrow morning to move a mass from my right thumb. It's official name is a pyogenic granuloma, sometimes known as a "pregnancy tumor".
Crazy freakin' pregnancy hormones lol!!
I actually consider myself lucky that it's just on my thumb because some people get them in their mouths or in their vaginas. Seriously.
When it first started developing, I was about 8 months pregnant, and it just looked like a little blood blister. I figured it would go away on its own. Shortly after the baby was born, it developed a small spongy bulb/head, and I realized that I'd had it long enough that it wasn't going away. Anyway, I got into my doctor who referred me to a specialist. I saw the specialist on Friday, and he knew right away what it was (when I said, "It started a few months ago, but I was 8 months pregnant and had other things on my mind" lol!)
So, surgery is tomorrow morning around 10:30. I can not wait to have this thing gone. It's so disgusting.
Send me some good vibes. I'm not thrilled that I have to have it surgically removed, so I need all of the good juju I can get.
Who would have thought that even after welcoming our LO's any of us would still be dealing with or finding out about what those crazy hormones did to us. I'm sure everything will go off without a hitch, best of luck.
Good luck! I had surgery a few years back to remove one on my finger (not pregnancy related). My LO actually has a granuloma on her belly button right now...
I post on your FB page, but I had one on my lip! It got to be about the size of a pea! I had it removed at 34 weeks. I felt like a freak! At least you can hide yours!
Re: Thumb surgery tomorrow
OMG OMG I have one too mine is on my pinky. My OB said not to do anything until after Olivia was born. I made my appointment which isn't until August.
The swelling is going down and it is about 80% smaller then it was to begin with.
Good luck tomorrow.
Ooh I'm so jealous that yours is shrinking!
Jten, no kidding, right?? I thought I'd heard it all. I didn't even connect it to pregnancy even though I was pregnant when it started developing.
