Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Genderless baby what are your thoughts

https://www.parentdish.com/2011/05/31/parents-of-gender-neutral-baby-storm-speak-out/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmaing11%7Cdl2%7Csec1_lnk3%7C67036

From what I get from the story there is a couple in Canada that is keeping the gender of their 4 month old a secret. The child's siblings, grandparents and a few other people know, but they will raise the child without a gender for as long as the child chooses. What are your thoughts about this.

  • I didnt read the article, only your summary, but all I have to say are that people are really fvckin' crazy!!!  I think it will probably cause more gender confusion for the poor kid than just raising the kid to be the gender he/she was intended to be!!  If the child THEN decides, when he/she is older that he/she does not identify with that gender then they can go from there. But seriouslly....WTF!?!?!?

  • They are idiots!  A doctor interviewed about it said children are born programmed as boys or girls (obviously there are rare exceptions to the rule) and it's the parents job to guide them as they grow up.

By 3 or 4 the baby, who I think is a boy, will know and be who he/she is supposed to be.  Hopefully inspite of it's parents stupidity.

    hopefully.

  • I agree that they are totally stupid. I also think the baby is a boy. From what I understand they are doing this because the oldest son likes pink and dressing up and all this stuff and is teases at school because of it so they are "protecting" this baby from teasing if he likes to dress up like a girl or if she likes to dress up like a boy. I don't think this will do anything but to confuse the poor kid.
  • I read that and just think it's silly. I don't understand the point and think it's just going to eff that kid's head up.

Unless the child was born with both parts or with barbie/Ken parts. Then it's understandable.

  • just wait for the confusion in school when the teacher asks the boys to go to one saide and the girls to another to play a game of something and this little person just stands in the middle completely confused of which side to go.

  • Last week on GMA they were talking about this. They said the mom once read a book about a genderless child growing up to be really smart. This was where they were getting their reasoning from. Crazy people
  • well i took classes on lhis and honestly its not that bad of an idea. letting your child do and play with what they want without boy girl boundries is actualy a good thing and you could avoid having a girly girl or a manly son with dd she has dresses and pink things but she also has jeans and blue things she has barbie and cars i brush her haie her dad plays flying with her so she isnt really being treated like a girl or boy which i really think will help her come into her own on her own
