Kid Friendly Vacations?

We are looking for some vacation ideas that will work well with our 13 month old and that are in driving distance. Any suggestions?

  • My fav is always Disney, but there is also gatlinburg or any beach spot. 13 mos is a good travel age- they will enjoy just about anything and aren't mouthy enough yet!

  • DD is almost 14mts.  We went to a wedding/vacation outside of Orlando last week and she was AWESOME... She took two naps each way and in between we stopped for lunch and to let her run around.  I would say the 7 1/2 hr trip took us an additional 1 1/2 - 2hrs for stops and diaper changes.  She loved the Villa at the  (Wyndham Reunion Resort) which was the highlight of her trip (someplace new to explore).

  • You can do a day drive or overnight to Chattanooga.  You have the aquarium, park with spray water and carousel.  Lots of walking things to do.  Great food.

Lots of beach options...FL, SC or even GA

  • What is in Gatlinburg?  I hear people talking about this place all the time but I have never been.  Thanks!

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have a ton of touristy type activities.  Pigeon Forge has Dollywood, tons of mini golf, go carts, arcades, shows, water parks, and TONS of outlet shopping.  I mean, we are talking retail heaven.  Gatlinburg has more cutesy little shops and still more go carts, mini golf, arcades, shows, Ripley's believe it or not, Ripley's aquarium (which was actually pretty good), and lots of other activities.  You can go up on the mountain for ice skating and in the winter, some limited skiing.  Personally, I prefer it in the winter when they go overboard with the lights for Winterfest and to get that whole mountainy vibe, but it draws a big summer crowd as well.  I think there is also one of those indoor water park hotels in Pigeon Forge now too.  Now you are kinda making me want to go- haven't been in a few years!
