Measuring Ahead.. ?'s (I think we talked about this already)

I had my 30wk appointment this morning and measured at 33wks! My Dr. wants to do a growth scan at my 32wk appt if I am still measuring that far ahead.

I'm assuming that this means I am just growing a nice chubby baby.. or is it that I might delivery early?

  • how tall are you? b/c I'm slightly on the tall side, my dr. wasn't surprised that I was measuring 26 at my 28 week apt.

  • It could mean a nice chubby baby. It could mean you have some extra fluid in there. I would say more than likely you won't deliver early unless they talk you into induction because your baby is getting "too big."

I don't believe that mother nature makes a baby too big for us. I believe that baby will come when baby is ready. My family is rather petite women and we all grow big babies--8-10 lbs--and everyon has delivered vaginally with no problems.

I am 5'5", average build. My Dr. commented and said that my belly was average size, so i'm not sure that excess fluid is the issue.. but I guess we will find out! lol. I was born 7 weeks early and only weighed around 4lbs and DH was 10 days early at a good 8.5lbs.. seeing in which DH is 6'4" I have a feeling she just might be a big girl!

That's good to hear. I really do not want to go down the induction route.

Yeah, if it makes you feel better - my sister was 8 lb 6 oz and my mom gave birth to her naturally (no meds even) - my mom is 5'2" and pre-pregnancy was less than 100lbs before each of us.

  • I wouldn't get too worried about it yet- according to McDonald's rule, your uterus should be + or - 3cm above your pubic bone for every week pregnant you are after 20 weeks. So it is completely normal for a 30 week belly to be measuring 27-33cm. We are all different shapes and sizes, so it seems absurd to me to think that our bellies and babies should all be growing and measuring exactly the same!
