It's a quality brand for sure although I've not personally tried one. Honestly, with a year old baby (if you are buying for the cutie in your siggy), I'd probably go with something other than the babyhawk - I love it for younger babes but it's not as supportive as others with big kids. Not sure how the catbird baby compares but you might do a search on thebabywearer.com to find out.
The Kozy is an easy to find, less expensive option that works well for bigger babies/toddlers. Others that are a bit harder to find that work well are Bamberoos, Kindercarries, Beanslings, NHTs...others too - check the FSOT on TBW to find them ;-)
