What is your LO eating? DS2 is starting to want table food and pretty much everything has milk or soy in it. I do give him veggies and fruit but Im looking for new food for him to eat. So far he has had reactions to egg and chicken.
I just found this board, and I also have the same question:)
Granted, DS won't touch chicken and we haven't tried eggs yet. Every time my MIL suggests something to eat(like Gerber Biter Biscuits), I tell her no.
DS is on Elecare, not Neocate, though.
I dont know anything about Elecare. The pedi said not to do eggs since he is on Neocate. LO has had moucus in his poop since he ate the chicken and was up 10 times last night.
We've been on Elecare and have now moved onto Neocate Jr. and DD eats nothing but table foods and the formula. Other than lots of fruits and veggies, she also LOVES pasta (brown rice pasta), rice and other grains. Of course, she's a little carnivore and loves her meat and potatoes. We just watch what goes into and on all of her food. There really are loads of possibilities. You just get used to reading loads of lables. I also find a lot of recipes off the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN).
Fruits, Veggies, plain meats, rice pasta, rice, really plain stuff. We didn't even start solids this last time till 8 mos and wasn't giving it everyday till about 10 mos. Neocate is a complete food so there is no need to feel the need to rush. Neocate has some recipe ideas on their website about 'foods' you can make w/ the formula so your baby is getting practice w/ solids w/out much allergy risk.
Jennifer, wife, CPST, birth Doula, LPN to BSN student, and 3x VBAC mama to AJ (8, Evan (7), Ilana (5),Olivia (2), and 8/24/12!
Kate has been on neocate since 8 weeks and I agree - table foods are hard! It seems like everything has soy, dairy, or eggs in it and we were told to avoid eggs until 14 months (partly b/c of her allergies and partly b/c we have a family history of severe egg allergies).
She eats fruits and veggies, loves ground turkey (I just brown it in a pan with some seasoning - garlic and onion powder usually), and eats puffs/ Kixs cereal. I want to try waffles/ pancakes but cannot find any organic options that meet our allergy restrictions. I'm thinking I will have to make some from scratch at some point.
Good luck! And please post if you find anything else!
