Ab workout while Prego

Hi Everyone,

 I had talked to my doc right after I found out I was expecting but forgot to ask last time I was there.  For most of you how long into your pregnency were you able to do workouts that involved the abs/core muscles, such as pilates, etc.  My doc gave the ok to work out I just hadn't done much until now do to another injury.

    I did ab workouts on an exercise ball throughout my entire pregnancy with DD1, and I am doing them now again.

    Would you mind giving some specific examples of exercises you did? I read in What to Expect that some moves are contraindicated (like double leg lifts). I haven't done any direct ab work since getting pg b/c I am so scared of diastasis!

    A trainer I was working with said planks are good. I have not done any since my 1st trimester ended though as my dr advised against it. He is pretty old fashioned though so it may not be the most up-to-date advice! I figured since I was still doing lighter weight training I was still somewhat using my abs anyway and just avoided direct ab exercises. Good luck with your pregnancy!

    I do crunches with my back on the ball, straight and sideways.
