So we all had names we thought we'd call LO or not call LO, but I bet that we have come up with some since LO actually showed up. My DH calls our Madison, "Little Mama" and "Little Lady." It's so freaking cute! I love it. After meeting LO, my aunt tried saying she's gonna call her Madie, I told her, "Um, no you wont."

If I wanted her to be called Madie, we would have named her Madie. Her son (my cousin) is called Boady, I don't call him Boad, or his actual first name Ethan, that she doesn't call him. Anyways what nicknames do you love and hate?
Re: Nicknames
My child will never know his name, lol! I think I have called him Silas a couple times. I am always calling him by random nicknames...Baby, Pumpkin, Lovie, Handsome Man, etc.
My family tries to call him SJ, which I hate!!
We knew from the get-go we'd call Alexander "Xander" but now I call him "Xander-bear" "Xander-bander" and "Xanadu".
What I find really funny is how many people have asked how "Xander" is pronounced and had someone call him "X-ander".
If we have a son next time, we've been considering "Benjamin" and my MIL said she'd call him "Benji"- um no....
Two things that irritate me are when one person in my family constantly spells Addy as Addie...um, hello? I spelled her name as AddYson so that there would be no question about how to spell Addy!
And, some people pronounce Avery's name as AVAry, just makes my skin crawl!
I call Katheine Muffin or Muffin Face most of the time.
DH calls her Lil' Bit or Squishy - so cute!!
My family calls her Kate or Katie or Baby Kate (for my nephew) or Katie-Kins which I don't mind, but I wont let them call her Kat!!
We call Claire everything under the sun...
Claire Bear is the only nickname that we use that has anything to do with her name. The rest are the common terms of endearment for an adorable newborn that have all been listed here. I think sweet pea is what comes out most often...but she hears them all!
I call her Eliza, Elizabeth, Itty Bitty Betty, and Gorgeous. DH calls her Lizzelboof or Wizzle.
Its been a struggle to keep people from calling her Lizzy. My MIL actually asked about her saying, "how's Lizzy?" and I retorted, "who's Lizzy?" My dad calls her Josephine which I'm fine with. My 13 year old niece wanted to call her Lizzy the Lizard and I vetoed that real quick.
Most people appreciate the name because its so traditional and I love that. They then ask me if I call her anything for short and I say Eliza and then that's what she's known as. Why can't more people just respect the parents wishes when it comes to the name of their child?

When I don't call him by his first name, I have been mostly calling him "little boy".
My husband thinks he eats a lot, so when ever Lucas starts showing signs that he is hungry, DH calls him Hungry Hungry Lucas... he sings it to the tune of the commercial for the Hungry Hungry Hippos board game
Baby #2 on the way!
Way random I know,
But your LO's first and middle names combined is my daughter's first name....
and her big sister calles her emmy LOL!!!!

My DH calls him "J.T. money" it is catching on....not sure if that is good or bad!
We call Nolan that when he's swaddled! We were just saying the other day that he's not gonna know his actual name because we are always calling him Bub, Bubby, Little Man...sometimes Nolanator-lol. My favorite is "Notorious Nol-ey E".
We'll start calling him Nolan more often when he's old enough to understand us.
I don't have a problem with others calling the baby what they want to call her. Lila doesn't really have any obvious nicknames (though I accidentally call her Buddy all the time...which I call Jack, which is coincidentally a nickname, his given name is John).
What I mean is I love that my grandma calls me Michaelina. It is her special nickname for me. Nobody else calls me that. If my mom or MIL want to have a special name for my kids, that is OK. FIL calls Jack "Little John". J is named after FIL so he can call him that all he wants.
After teaching elementary and MS students for so long I have figured out that kids are going to go by what they are going to go by, no matter how hard parents fight it. For now, it is just not my hill to die on. Ask MIL how hard she fought for DH to be called Nathaniel instead of Nate. And not a single person calls him that, even after all the protesting, since he hates it.
I don't care who calls my baby what...as long as they don't call him a b!tch. (Does this count as beating a dead horse?)
Anyway, there are a range of nicknames that are used in this house. Aristotle is Ari, Tottle, Tater Tot, Fuss, Armstrong (like Lance, because his legs are always going going going!), Bubs...
Our son was born May 13th and his first name is Xander, not Alexander, just Xander, and because pronounce it X-ander all the time, I guess like Xavier. I only correct the people that will be using his name a lot but my brother in law has been calling him X and I can't stand it!!
And How funny, my brother's name is Benjamin and my mother made it VERY clear when he was born that NO ONE would be calling him Benji, and the first time her father called him Benji they all realized she was serious, HA!
My MIL has asked numerous time what nn we're going to call Felicity. And every time we answer "Felicity." Maybe one day she'll stop asking, but at least she hasn't tried to create a nn for her. We've been fairly lucky no ones really tried to create a nn for her. Except, my friends mom. She's been calling her "Filly" uhm, my daughter is not a baby horse.
as for what we call her typically it's by her name, but we'll also use the generic "baby girl" and then "grumpy pants" when she's fussy.

I had a student named Felicity. She went by Fissy. I hated that nickname. Filly sounds better...but not by much!

Omg, those are some awesome nicknames!! lol
I've been calling Annabelle Mushikins from the beginning. I have no clue where that came from, but it stuck. She has a lot of nicknames from DH too including bananabelle, annabear, cutie bear, pumpkin, cutie pants, babybelle, annababy, and annabear. :-) She does get called by her name sometimes too. Heh.

I call Owen all kinds of things, but most often "bud" or "buddy". No one else has a consistent nickname for him. His name doesn't lend itself to it, really. I don't care if they do - I had special nicknames from relatives, and it was nice. I miss being called those things now that those people are gone.
Really, I find that people who get all bent out of shape over what people call their baby are the kind of people that insist their inlaws (or parents or whatever) are crazy. Not them, oh no, they never throw gas on the drama fire.
