Maryland Babies

*Farintea**

I just saw your post below -I just had a c-section at GBMC 2 months ago and had a wonderful experience.  The nurses were wonderful especially once you are in your room-it's like a baby hotel (they even have room service now!).  I was nervous because I had never had any surgery before and they made it so easy-they didn't do the cath. before I was numb but it wasn't THAT bad-honestly if you compare it to pushing for hours in pain it's nothing-not that i know what natural childbirth is like but I can only imagine-I had a c-sec for the same reason-she wouldn't drop and while they can induce you-why put your body through all that just to possibly have a c-section anyway.  Recovery while slow at first was great since you are in the hospital for so long you really have the nurses to help and make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Who is your doctor?  My doc was great and even held my hand and rubbed my back while they did the spinal.

all in all you will need to do what's best for you-but I can bet you will have a wonderful experience either way- best of luck!  let me know if you have any questions-I'd love to help!

  • Oh and DH was able to hold Lilly right away.  I got her once I was in recovery and started bf'ing right away.  They started the c-section at 12:30-she was born at 12:39 and I was holding her in my arms and bf'ing by 1pm-ish.

  • Thank you sooooooo much for writing back... that was awesome to hear... you make me feel sooo sooo much better about this. I had been dreading it until now. So you did wait until you were numb before you had the catheter? How long were you in the hospital for? When do you feel it is a good time to have family come back? My husband and I really want to have a good amount of time to breastfeed and bond, especially since we are doing this a totally different way than we first thought... When did you feel good to have people come back and well bonded with your newborn? Thanks again.. can't wait to hear from you!

The catheter was the worst part but that says a lot-it's really not THAT bad looking back on it-they don't numb you util you are all prepped so you feel the pinching-it sucked but in retrospect really wasn't bad.,  The recovery was the most shocking for me-I was expecting to be up and about in days and it took me a while.  We were in the hospital 4 nights-5days and you need every second of it-make sure they give you a binder-it helped me to be able to stand up straight and really walk around more.  By the time I left the hospital I was feeling really good and was glad I had that time to rest because once your home you feel like you have a million things to do.  When I was in recovery we gave ourselves a good 30 minutes alone to bf and bond and you are only allowed to have one other person besides your hubby back there so DH brought back each of our parents one at a time to see the baby-each of them were there maybe 5 minutes each.  Once we were in our room they came up-we onyl had parents in the room that day.  We had our c-section at noon so I wasnt too tired but if you are doing yours in the middle of the night you may need your rest.  They do great kicking guests out at 8pm-it's nice because they make sure you have your rest.  noon to 8 are visiting hours so it';s not too tiring for you.

It is a beautiful hospital-we felt like we were in a baby hotel!!!  The nurses are great and take every moment to REST-Oh and the rssberry Italian ice is amazing-if you think about it-check the brand-I've been trying to find it because I really loved it!! hahaha!
