Pregnant after a Loss

I am trying not to stress

But I can't find the hb with the doppler.  We found it for the first time a week ago today.  We have listened probably four times since and found it within minutes.  But today we can't find it. DH and I checked for around five minutes, then I got up moved around some, went to the bathroom and tried again.  We still couldn't find it.  The baby is always in the same spot when we check, surely it hasn't moved to a different spot since yesterday.  I will be crazy if I don't find it this weekend.

Re: I am trying not to stress

  • Try up a little higher? Maybe your uterus started to move and so the baby is up higher? That happened to me around 13w and I was relieved to find the hb higher up. Sending you hugs...I know it can be so scary!

  • Thanks!  We found it:)  We tried one more time and it is higher than it had been and more to the center.  It is usually and inch or so to the right.  We only found it for a few seconds and then it was gone.  I think the baby is moving a lot. Now I can relax and enjoy the weekend.  I don't think I will check again for a few days.

  • I'm glad you were able to find it.

Sounds like you got doubly good news.  Not only is LO still doing well, but s/he is apparently growing if your ute is.  Yay!

Have a great rest of your weekend!

  • I wouldn't stress.  For 1 the baby could very well be in a different spot, they move all over the place :) and 2 I had a similar situation when I was 14 weeks and was at the Drs he was unable to find the heartbeat with his doppler and we both freaked out and he rushed me into the u/s room and there was the heartbeat just beating away and I said now that is why I'm not buying a doppler lol.  He assured me that dopplers that most people buy for at home are usually under $100 and do not work nearly as good as his and his is about $600 and still screws up sometimes.  I hope that helps.  If you get too worried you can always pop into the Drs for a quick doppler check :) GL and try not to worry.

Awesome! This happened to me a few times in week 12 and the answer was usually higher and in some spot I'd never tried before. It's actually a great sign that the baby is getting bigger and moving like crazy. So happy you found your squirmy worm. I know how stressful it can be ((HUGS)).

  • I'm glad you found it!  This happened to me several times, even up into the 20 something weeks, so it's not a perfect "science."  My LO likes to run from the doppler so perhaps yours does too.

Oh good!! I'm so glad!! My LO used to only be on the left too; I remember the day I found the hb on the right, I was shocked! So glad things are okay for you.
  • So glad you found it! But that is the reason I didn't buy one. I would FREAK if I couldn't find it!!!

  • Honestly, I didn't use my doppler with this pregnancy until 14 or 15 weeks.  Even then, Raquel moved into such weird places and positions a few times that I was SURE she was gone.  One night it took me over an hour to find her heartbeat.  I know it is scary, but it is normal at this age.

  • Up until 14w, I could only find it about 50% of the time.

Wait a few hours, try again with a super full bladder, elevate your hips and try ALL OVER your lower abdomen.
