Trying to Get Pregnant

TTC & Preseed

I am a big fan of preseed, and I was looking around on amazon for additional applicators. The tube is expensive and a little goes a long way, so the applicators run out before the lube does... stink...

Anyways as I am browsing I saw this, has anyone used it?

Why can't you wash out the applicators you have and reuse them?

I was thinking this as well. I started with Preseed this cycle and was actually wondering why they included so many applicators. It seemed like a huge waste of plastic to me, just one more thing to add to the landfill! I've been reusing mine.

  • Lol, the instructions have big bold letters that say "DO NOT REUSE APPLICATORS"  I suppose I could wash them out really well, but it still makes me kind squeamish

Hmm...yeah I don't understand why they would really not want you to reuse them...oh wait, probably so that you have to buy more of their product! Stick out tongue

What makes you squeamish about it? I'm not trying to be uber-snarky here, but I don't understand why certain things having to do with vaginas make women grossed out. It seems like, of all women, the ones who are actively TTC would be the ones who are ok with things being in their vags over and over again...::shrugs::

Like the therm I stick up my vag every morning to temp?  Yeah, it's called soap.  Seriously, just wash them.  That's what I do.

Exactly, there's lots of things I stick up my vag repeatedly now that I'm TTC...therm, fingers, preseed applicators, husband... Wink Soap is my friend.

  • You Ladies are totally right, and I will probably do that from now on, but the whole point of this post I was actually asking about that other lube product if anyone had used it? Better than Preseed, worse, the same?

I haven't used that one.  It looks like you have to buy the applicators separately, so you'll be spending more money.  And if a product comes without the applicators, it stands to reason that you don't really have to use them.  I know we've used our preseed without the applicators many times, and it works fine.

Lol, sorry got a bit off topic! :) I second what Jefa said.

Thats strange...the box I purchased said that you could either throw them away or reuse them stating that they had to be pulled apart and immediately washed with warm soapy water and left on a clean surface to air dry before reusing them.

Mine says the same thing - "DO NOT REUSE APPLICATORS."  I figure it can't hurt anything if they are washed right away and set out to air dry though. I agree with PP that it seems awefully wasteful to go through more than nine different plastic applicators. I would try cleaning them.  Good luck!

A while back someone asked the same thing about the applicators (months ago, I'm an avid lurker). Anyway, a bumpie suggested putting them in the dishwasher and letting them air dry. That's what I've done, and fully intend to reuse them. I hope this isn't too detrimental, but it seems like the most environmentally sound and most hygienic option that has been suggested. I would hate to buy more applicators when I had 6 perfectly good ones.
