We took K to the lake yesterday just to get out of the house. We had such a good time and breeze was so nice that I didn't worry about getting too hot.
So DH is out in the water and I'm walking the shore line with K. A very pleasent looking lady comes up and taps me on the arm. I turn and she has her hands about a foot away from eachother and then points to K. (She didn't speak english) I make the tiny sign with fingers (you know: index finger about an inch from thumb) and I say "Yes, she is tiny"
Then this women holds her hands out to take K!!! ![]()
I usually have such a hard time say no, and I even almost handed K to her! Then I realized this was not a time to be weak. She probably would have been fine, but I was not ready for a stranger to hold my baby, so I just shook my head no.
She looked back, kind of surprised and said "No??"
I said "No!"
Then I made DH come in and we left. ![]()
Incase you made it this far, here is a family picture from yesterday:

Re: "No, You can't hold my Baby!!!"
I'm suprised you even have her out in public--good for you!
Our neos and pedi said we can't take C anywhere in public for 2 months after her discharge date. I'm going crazy trapped at home except for doctors appointments.

i would have done the same thing. you do not know this woman and she could have run off with her. no way. I know unlikely but you never know and she just might have been waiting for your dh to go into the water and she might have been playing that she does not speak english. I just would not take any chances.
kck329 ~ I have never heard of a dr asking for someone to not take a baby out for the first 2 months. Is it just cause your baby was a preemie?
I have had my little girl out from the day we were discharged. the only thing my pedi recommended was to not have her around anyone that is sick and limit her direct contact with only people that I know and that I know are not sick or just getting over from being sick.
This is exactly what I was thinking.. STRANGER DANGER!!!
this is exactly why I almost let her hold K, still, I couldn't do it.
Yes, its because she is a preemie-most preemies have weaker immune systems and those that had to have breathing support are at a high risk for rehospitalization with any infection. I do realize that C was earlier than K so maybe different rules apply.
