DD is milk/soy protein intolerant. She is currently on Alimentum RTF. We've tried two different kinds of rice cereal that are supposedly milk/soy free, but she reacted to them both. She's also reacted to Neocate in the past.
I'm at the point where I'm debating whether to skip over rice cereal completely, and start with purees that I make myself. What should I start with? With DS we did a BLW approach at around 7-8 months, but we were just giving him whatever we were eating. I'd rather give DD just one single food so I can gauge whether or not something is not agreeing with her.
Re: So how should I start solids?
Our GI told us to only use Earth's Best rice cereal. DS did not like it, it gave him a stomach ache (he also had stomach problems on Neocate and is now on EleCare).
She also told us to introduce in this order: sweet potato, squash, peaches, pears. Spend one week with each to be sure there isn't a reaction before moving on.
Have you started with the purees? If so, did you make it yourself or buy commercially-made food? And if so, what brand?
Right now we're using Earth's Best purees. I'm planning on making it myself soon, but for now we're just buying it.
We started a couple of weeks ago. Sweet potatoes and squash went very well. Peaches did not go well at all. So we're on a break the rest of this week, and then we'll try pears.
Rice cereal and oatmeal gave us problems. We tried the Earth's best and they both constipate her. Solids overall though have been fine. We started with sweet potatoes, and that was great. I have also given her squash, carrots, pears, prunes, apples, peaches, and bananas. She hated the peaches. She loved the bananas, but they did not love her. Basically at this point all vegetables have been absolutely fine but the fruits have been trickier. We introduce one new food every week. I was petrified of this process but so far it has been easier than I thought.
Beechnut is milk/soy free. DS never handle rice cereal and could never handle oatmeal without mixed with food. I made DS's food and we are doing fruits and veggies.

we started with sweet potatoes then squash, carrots, prunes...we worry about fruits and veggies so i'm not the best person to give advise but thought I would give my 2 cents anyways
peaches were bad and we are just now doing pears, she hasn't had an outside reaction but she has been crabby
good luck to you
