Pregnant during the summer

You know how people love to say how much is sucks to be pregnant during the summer?

Well I disagree. You get to wear loose dresses to your heart's content without freezing, and best of all, I have license to buy and eat all the cheap summer fruit I want Big Smile We bought two giant tubs of cherries at Costco yesterday and they are *not* going to be made to last. Who gets to do that in December???

Re: Pregnant during the summer

  • And we can stay active most of our pregnancy before our babies are born!  My friend was pregnant most of the winter and she said it was really expensive to have to find winter maternity clothes (coats sweaters etc) and very constricting having to wear pants.

I like running outside and I worry about overheating in the summer time, so thats my biggest worry.  Otherwise, I am actually excited about summer and getting a maternity bathing suit!

I like it too.....being pg and due in Nov.  With DS2 I was due mid Sept so my entire 3rd tri was all.summer. long, it was sooo hot that summer and all dS1 wanted to do was play outside.  I really didn't enjoy being pg that summer.  I can handle 2nd tri in the summer!  I think!  Now I have 2 boys that want to be outside nonstop, we will see!!!!

  • I am loving that this summer DH can't say no to my buying a pool/pool membership. I just bought my first $10 pool today (one of many, I'm sure, because the dog can't resist, and I can't fit the hard plastic ones in my car!) and am waiting in my bathing suit for it to fill up!!
  • I agree!!  And we won't be at the very end of pg in the heat of summer.  I'm looking forwrd to eating ice cream and wearing flowy dresses and think I'll be pretty comfy.  I can't imagine an August due date though!

I agree!  Good point about not having to wear pants!   I love that I can eat as much watermelon as I want.  I'm averaging about one full size melon a week.  I think I'm also going to splurge and buy the waterproof ipod shuffle so I can swim laps in the pool and listen to music/audiobooks at the same time.

  • I know, I love it! Especially since we'll all be "cute pregnant" and not "about to pop huge pregnant" all summer long. Bring it on!

  • I've always hated the heat. Well more of the humidity than anything. I get so b!tchy in the summer without being pregnant. My husband is lucky he is deployed so he doesn't get the brunt of it all. But I do agree about the not having to wear jeans, and wearing loose clothing.

  • I live in North Texas, it's already miserably hot outside and it's not even June yet. I'd like to live where you ladies live. No humidity, no 100+ degree temps for 30+ days. I'm going to HATE this summer more then I have hated them in the past lol

Oh, and it's still hot well into October.

  • I've been largely pregnant over the summer, tis not always a bowl of cherries, but I didn't find it that bad... until I went 2 weeks overdue in late August. At least we'll be in the 2nd trimester pregnant, not near as physically uncomfortable.

  • I agree!!!  I love maxi dresses and swing skirts... so comfy, cool and I already had them and don't have to buy maternity clothes!! Yay!

Oy...I'm with you!  I am in South Texas and it's 97 degrees here today with a heat index of 101.  We haven't had rain in months (seriously!) and I'm miserable already.  I always hate Texas summers but a summer that starts in early May AND includes a severe drought while I'm pregnant feels like a nightmare.  I'm actually depressed about it.  We just got back from FL yesterday where it was in the 80s and we got off the plane to 92 degrees with a hot humid wind..and I cried!

My dad just went back to Colorado after visiting for two weeks and bragged how it's nice and cool and still has snow on the mountains. He's moving back before the baby is born and although he's use to Texas summers, he doesn't like them lol

Oh and my mom and her 65 degree Southern California day yesterday. I almost hung up on her lol

HA!!  And here I sit in "hot sticky Pennsylvania" and it is JUST that.  The last 3 days and tomorrow are to be in the 90s.  Something isn't right!  LOL.  I am not looking forward to the summer pregnancy thing.  I hate hate hate being hot.  And I am hot all the time now.  Our electric bill will be horrendous this month...and probably all summer.  I do like that I'll be in all winter and when the weather starts to change, we can be out and moving with our LO's.  Not much we can do about it either way...

It has been in the 90s and very humid here in Pa!!!!  Our summers get brutal too, considering we are so much farther north than Texas!

  • I disagree...the heat is the worst.  It was almost 100 degrees with humidity here today and we went carpet shopping.  I almost threw up right in the middle of Home Depot it was so hot in there!  My husband had to take me home and our fun afternoon was over.  I was wearing my smallest dress I own.  This is going to be miserable!

  • Here's to not being pregnant in the dead of winter when I would live in constant terror of falling on the ice! Love wearing all the flowy dresses and skirts and tight tank tops to show off the baby bump :)

  • My girlfriends have all stated to me that I will be miserable during the summertime.. I think they are wrong, I am from South America and I hate the winter time. Now I get to wear practically nothing and I get to look cute and fell comfy doing it.
  • I think November due dates are perfect! I was also pregnant with DS and due in November. You're not huge during the hottest part of the summer, and then baby is born in November and you have about 5 months to lose baby weight and fit into summer clothes!  I would hate to pop out a baby in the beginning of the summer and then have to put on a bathing suit and summer clothes, at least now if I'm a little big I can have the excuse that I'm pregnant!
