Pregnant after a Loss

Question about discharge....

Hi ladies.

I wrote the other day about bleeding, taking test, positive, going to doctor, and him saying "ok, great, you are pregnant and see if 4 weeks for your 8 week apt"...

I was surprised that with a MC 6 months ago and my bleeding last week that he wouldn't want to re-check my betas.  He did say that he did not see anymore blood and that my cervix was closed (but so did they me 6 months ago..)

So, gross question.... what color is your vaginal discharge?  is it clear, yellowish, or a brownish color?

  • Back in Feb I was seeing my gyno, I had been with her for years...but it was my first pregnancy. I had my concerns and she brushed it off. She was very a great doc up till the day I started doubting her. Sadly that pregnancy ended in a missed m/c that was confirmed on my first office visit with my new doctor.
I learned that the second you get an off feeling about a doctor you need to follow your gut. A lot of women bleed/spot and end up having healthy pregnancies, so try not to worry yourself, though it's easer said then done. More importantly you need to be able to have faith in your doctors judgements, and your doctor needs to be understanding toward your concerns. Since your having your doubts maybe you should find a new doctor. Tell your new doc when u call to make an appointment about your history, your current issues and the issues you had with your old doc....more then likely they will try to take you ASAP. Sending you my T&P *hugs*

  • White or yellowish are normal. Brownish is not; it means you're spotting. But 20% of pg have spotting/bleeding and turn out just fine, so while it's not normal, it doesn't necessarily mean that this isn't going to be just fine.

If you're having brownish discharge, call your dr, tell him/her you're spotting, and ask for a repeat beta. They really should do one if you're still having bleeding.

I hope everything works out for you and you can get some reassurance!

  • Mine has actually been all of the above from your color selection.  Its changed, especially early on, and the volume of it at any given time would flucuate on a whim too.  I also had some pink, red & reddish-brown thrown in for good measure (sporadic spotting in 1st Tri).

Its a little odd that he'd not recheck your betas, but honestly, my docs didn't flinch at my early spotting either (I never had betas).

  • Mine tends to go between a yellowish tint and clear, depending on how hydrated I am.  It also tends to be thicker and white frequently because of my endometrin suppositories.

ETA: I wanted to add that I agree with PP.  If you are feeling off about your doctor, you might want to consider looking for a new one.  At least call your doctor and ask why he didn't want to run more betas given your history.  It couldn't hurt.  GL!
